Strong Fuel Smell in Cabin

  1. Hi all.

Over past few months I have noticed a very strong fuel smell inside.

    Mainly with the following
    After filling up,
Starting the car up and at slow speeds.

Any idea on what I should be looking for source wise?

  2. Have a good sniff under bonnet. Check under car, drivers side, under door area, the fuel pipe under their corrodes, check connections around the fuel pump. make sure the fuel flap closes properly. Let us know if you find the problem

  3. Have a good sniff/look under bonnet, check fuel pump connections, check under car, in line with drivers door, the fuel pipe sometimes corrodes under there. Make sure fuel flap closes fully after filling. Ive had all these problems over the years.

  4. Had a strong fuel smell on my R26. It was due to a small hole in the plastic corrugated pipe to the fuel rail. As the corrugated pipe is part of the metal fuel pipe that goes behind the engine, I replaced it with rubber fuel hose and clips and no further issues.
