Stop and overheating.

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by RSbuzzer, May 17, 2016.

  1. The ALARM Beeped AND The Stop signal appeared on the dash. The temperature gauge went to the max.
    Aircon didn't blow cold either.
I had to stop, leave the car for a while, start off again with the heating on till I got home. Think its a case of the fan not cutting in. No faults showing on up on torque/carista apps.
Any ideas what to look at? Anybody with similar problems ?

  2. There will be an electrical plug on the radiator... This is where the car reads your coolant temperature from.

1st- Disconnect the electrical plug and check you have voltage with the ignition on. This will rule out a blown fuse.

2nd- Assuming you have power, bridge the electrical plug with a piece of wire...

If the Fan starts- you have a faulty temperature sensor (bit where the elec plug plugs in).

If the fan doesn't start- it's a new fan motor you need.
