Stock or forge recirc valve?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Krissg, Feb 27, 2014.

  1. Hi, could someone please elaborate a little on what the benefit would be of a forge recirc valve?
    just better quality part?
    any difference in sound?

    Cheers

  2. a recirculation valve works like this, i hope I explain good cause I am not native english

Imagine you are going full speed, full pedal...

The minute the trottle valve closes, and you shift (you stop accelerating), the turbo will still turn and create some sort of 'air shockwave', this shockwave has no place to go because the way out is closed and will slow down the turbo.

If you have a dump valve ("psssht"), it will use this to-much-air and make the sound.
If you have the recirculation valve, you will reuse that same air to keep the turbo flowing. (it will be recirculated back to the entrance)

    The advantages:

    -less 'stress' for turbo
    -turbo keeps more speed
    -faster back on the gas

  3. Disadvantages?

  4. It's a fucking pain in the arse to fit!

  5. Most are only applicable on higher boosts. Low boost it isnt really an issue. Takes lots of boost to get turbo stall.

  6. Lol +1 on that
