250 Stitching dilemma - help me decide

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by -Chris-, Aug 20, 2016.

  1. I've a white 250 Cup. I'm about to upgrade the interior to leather recaros. The leather has white stitching.

I'd like to also fit an alacantara steering wheel and add alacantara gear and handbrake gaiters too.

The default colour for the stitching would be yellow (Factory finish??). The current leather wheel has yellow, as does the std gear knob. My hand brake has grey for some reason. Obviously my rev counter dial is yellow, I wouldn't change that.

Eventually, I'd like to fit an RS gear knob so that would eradicate the gear knob yellow stitch issue. I don't know if you can change the actual handbrake handle can you?

With the seats having white stitching and the strip and Renault sport bit on the passenger carbon trim being white it makes more sense to have the wheel and gaiters with white stitching too.

As above, yellow is default. I'd like red too. However, white would match the seats. White stitching on the wheel though, would that look ok?

    Not seen this combination before.

    Your thoughts?

  2. White is okay but can easily get dirty, needs to be maintained or can look poor.

  3. Surely the white will only get as as dirty as yellow. I'd be more concerned about keeping the alacantara clean so the stitching would be equally as clean. I have ocd so wouldn't drive with dirty hands. Plus, I'd probably buy a cover too, as I have with my track car wheel.

As above, I'm swayed towards the default yellow but with the seats having white I'd like to be different and keep it the same. I'm surprised Renault didn't do em in yellow on the seats too.

  4. Check out some of tiggy designs steering wheel retrims - they've got a scirocco wheel in grey alcantara and white stitching and it looks MIIIIIINNNNT!

As a completely different option, I've changed the colour of seat stitching before by carefully colouring in the original stitching then going over in a new colour...

  5. I see what you mean about the sirocco wheel. I'd keep the 12 o'clock line yellow though.

Sod re-stitching it all. Or colouring it in for that matter.
