265 Stereo upgrade

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Nitro94, Jan 3, 2022.

  1. Hi,
I posted a while back about upgrading my speakers and was told that I was gonna need more than speakers to fix the shite audio in the megane.
Having replaced my front speakers I can confirm now to anyone who wants better audio in their megane that is 100% correct. It made a small improvement, but not enough!

What I’m after now is to get a sound system that I won’t be left wanting more with. Only problem is stereos and electronics aren’t my area or expertise so I could use a little help please.

Ideally I don’t want to spend any more than £300 but would stretch to £500 if it was as really worth it as I’m planing on keeping this car until we run out of dinosaur juice.

    Here’s what I need -

    Must haves:
    > Steering wheel control
    > Bluetooth phone connectivity (music only)

    Desired:
    > Accept and receive calls via cars original hands free
    > Centre display compatibility

    Additional:
    > I never use CDs so headunit doesn’t need CD player
    > I don’t want to be cutting/drilling so if front and rear speakers could remain 13cm it would be great
    > I mainly listen to rock/metal so components that compliment this style of music would be great

If anyone has the time to spare I would appreciate recommendations on what parts to get.
Currently my sound system is completely stock except for the front door speakers which have been replaced with Hertz Dieci DCX 5.25”, and sound deadening applied to the door.

I will be receiving help from someone competent to install everything. The megane is only my second car and my total experience in upgrading speakers amounts too cutting holes in my previous cars parcel shelf to add some speakers in place of my rear speakers… Please feel free to explain this to be like I am a complete idiot

    Many thanks.

  2. Most on here bought a pioneer headunit amp that fits discretely behind the glove box with the relevant loom to plug and play it (if you search for it, should come up with the theads with all the details in/part numbers ect)
But i think theyve stopped selling the pioneer amp, but ive seen that vibe do one aswel.

  3. In mine previous owner had fitted a pioneer under seat sub, may also have upgraded speakers(not sure). It actually turns the factory system into something that sounds fairly decent. I recently disconnected it and checked the sound without and it was very ordinary.

  4. I’ve decided to go with an amp that plugs into the back of the head unit. I’m haven’t trouble getting hold of a Pioneer GM-D1004. Can anyone recommend an equivalent that is easy to install and will fit behind the glovebox?

  5. No i havent, ive got the pioneer one, if you search on previous audio threads, theres details on the different looms required depending if its megane 250 or 265 onwards.
