Stereo Upgrade drama: need help

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by NakedApe, May 18, 2021.

  1. Just got a 2011 Megane (love it) and some joker has swapped out the bluetooth stereo for the bog standard cd/radio unit. Now I have a massive bluetooth button on my center console and a bluetooth mic above my head that don't do anything. Bought a Renault bluetooth model off ebay but the wiring cradle is massively different on the two models (shown in picture). I naturally assumed that if my Megane is a bluetooth/Tomtom model that it would be a straight swap! Does anyone know if an adapter exists that can connect this unit with full functionality?

Alternatively, am I p***ing into the wind? Would I be better off buying an after-market stereo/facia?
If I went down this route, would the tomtom still work? It seems tied up tightly with the radio and I'd like to keep it, even at the expense of losing the stalk controls.

I drive 60 miles a day for work and need my sounds, man! Help me out!

  2. Aah. I knew there was a model in-between the standard cd/radio unit and the one I bought with the usb port that had bluetooth connectivity. Was sure I'd seen the usb unit in Meganes the same year as mine. Dammit. Now I've got to sell this one.
