Hi All, Just wondering how many of you run an oem wheel with airbag vs aftermarket wheel no airbag? I am in two minds. I prefer the look/feel and circumference of the aftermarket sabelt wheel i have right now. It fits nicely in my hands, feels good and the size is what i would call perfect (think its 300mm or 330mm). It was not my choice and on the car when it came to me. BUT my car is not a track build. The whole vibe was OEM plus for the car (I needed to keep the rear seats) and she definitely has the PLUS in abundance now running 350+hp. As its OEM plus and not track, there are no harnesses and no roll cage. I've looked and there are no aftermarket wheels that i can find that include the use of an airbag. I plan several road trips this year to Scotland, France, Germany. Some will include track driving. So can't make up my mind if the addition of a sports wheel is just asking for an issue. Without harnesses and no airbag. So i wondered what you all run? Am i nuts to run something like this without an airbag if there are no additional safety features? Good to hear what other people are doing. Cheers.
Hi Steve, I run an aftermarket flat bottom wheel, no airbag, its coded out, with controls on small panels, attached to the wheel. I am 81 years old, but have roll cage/buckets, running 360bhp/340 torque, and do Tesco, and Track days No airbags in mine, at my age, I will die someday soon anyway!. I live in N/E Scotland, if you get this far, perhaps we will meet.
