  1. Hi guys. How easy is it to change the steering wheel on a 225? I want to buy a sparco or something similar. Any ideas what will fit? Also, how do i work the cruise control? When i press the button it comes up green on the dash but i dont know how to set it or its not working. Thanks

  2. Also, does anyone know where i can get a rs tuner from? I dont have enough money for a remap. So is anyone selling one guys? Thanks

  3. Haven't looked into it on the megane but i imagine changing the steering wheel is pretty easy, its normally just pop the airbag off undo a few connectors then one bolt holding it on.

You'd need to get a megane specific boss kit then pretty much any aftermarket wheel will fit. You will most likely have to bodge the airbag connector with a resistor to stop the lights on the dash too, still with the new regs it may be an MOT failure anyway depending on how anal your tester is.

For the cruise control, there's a rocker switch below and to the right of the steering wheel, next to the instrument brightness adjustment. One way is speed limiter, the other is cruise. You also have controls on the steering wheel to switch on and off and increase and decrease the speed. So after turning it on you set the speed with the + - buttons on the steering wheel, it doesn't work under 20mph though.

Your best bet is probably the cliosport forum for an RSTuner or post up a wanted ad although they don't come up anywhere near as often over here

  4. A rocker switch? Where abouts below? Yes its to the right think its it the up one it turns green. But i cant set it. Interested to know what this rocker switch is. Thanks

  5. There are only a handful of people that have an aftermarket wheel.

  6. Yeah its the switch you've found (i think should be by your right knee ish), green for CC orange for speed limiter, once its turned on set the speed with the + - buttons on the steering wheel on the left side, they should have a little pic on them same as on the CC switch

  7. Ah thanks pal. Sadly dont think mine works mate. Dont know what to make of it. Btw with regards to a tuning chip. I found a site and the guy said id get up to 35bhp from a remap. He aparently comes round to do it. Is that possible?
    He said for £150.
Heres the link.. if you can help id really apreciate it. Thanks. http://www.engineremapping.biz/

  8. No worries fella.

It is possible, and 35bhp gains aren't overly excessive you normally get 250-260ish from a stage one sometimes more i think the highest i've seen is around 275

However the F4R engine doesn't have many reputable mappers out their the only two that are really well respected/ have a great reputation, they are Paul at RStuning or Henk at Fast chip.

I remember taking my old clio 172 to a random mapper as it was local, he had a great reputation in the VAG world. He didn't know what the hell he was doing! in the end he had to cut my ECU open solder on a gadget so he could make changes in real time rather than datalog and afterwards my car over fueled like a fucker!

Even large companies like bluefin have trouble mapping these engines, there's a thread up on here about them with a 250 map which knocks like crazy and was running lean, even K-tec have a really bad reputation for mapping causing the death of a few engines over on cliosport and their meant to be Renault specialists!

If it were me and i wanted it done cheap i'd go the Fastchip (henk/RStuner) route, buy a second hand box for circa £100 then add on a map and licence code which is around 220 euro's (£175ish) then sell the box after for a £100 again, only £25 quid more than the "random" mapper and it WILL be a good map, Henk has been tuning Renaults for god knows how long now, he's mapped cars all over the world. I currently run a Stage 1 from Henk, and when funds allow i'l be going the custom stage 2 map route through Henk also.
