steering rack bush

They certainly look the same. It's a shame the eBay as doesn't give more information.

To be fair, it's how much something of that nature should cost. £30 odd for that is excessive

 

That's gotta be worth a punt just to have a look.

That seller has some interesting stuff. Such as gear knob inserts and lock covers.

 

I was speaking to Adam about these from that seller yesterday
ive ordered loads from that seller. Really good stuff as they sell the push rivet clips, fir tree clips and sunroof sliders too

 

Well i have just ordered some incase they the right ones as i have a knock and been told its possibly these!!! Fingers crossed there correct. Lets us no anyone when you recieve.

 

So does anyone know if this is the right part? Mine arrived today but no idea if its right or not?

 

It fits my 1.9dci & I presume the racks are the same.

Def the same rack, just shorter arms on the dci, I bought 2 of these myself, cant go wrong

Took mine with me to mark blacks on friday as he was doing cambelt so thought he would pop it in. Haha said it was rubbish and prob only last a couple of months!!!! He had a track focus one and to be fair they are worlds apart in quality. So didnt bother putting it in.

 

Hi all!im in a small trouble.i have a ordered that bush 2weeks ago and still didnt got it.my car is on the lift for last week and ncts retest on sunday.maybe someone have a spare one and can sell me?

Hi, this may sound silly but how do you know if your bush is worn or broken?

Also where is this part located and is it an easy repair?

Has any one fitted this part as CB225 is reporting they are rubbish?

You will have play in the steering that isn't the inner or outer track rods.

I am keen to know about the cheap ones too. I bought the £30 one and to be honest, £30 is a rip off for what it is. They may fave had to have a lot made, but they would have cost pence to make.

 

I ordered two of this just to see what they were like, checked em out and then threw em away , I would not even give em away ..

I am lucky enough to have testing facilities at work for metals, plastics and powder mouldings, took one to additives lab and they told me that the materials used were inferior mixed polymers and also were abrasive anomalies within the mix that would in time cause failure with cracking/small fissures, it was not a problem as they cost next to nothing. worth a punt but after that report just not for me.
Hey I am not saying don't get any, if you can do your own diy and prepared to change em every 2months after some hard track days then they are cheap enough to buy 6 a year ...

That covers things pretty well to be honest. More of a bodge than a fix then.

 

To be fair smegal at less than 5 quid i guess they are cheap enough to buy plenty if you can fit em yaself, so gotta weigh up pros n cons , if you cant diy them then def a no go :-))

 

I fitted the track focus one and it really tightened up the car a lot well worth the money imo

 

It's cheaper than a new rack, bit it's a lot for what it is.
