Gearbox whine. My 250 Cup has recently developed a whine ,most noticeable between 50-70mph where I spend most my time.. It does this in gear AND in neutral and doesn't change by gear or engine speed, it's rotational and increases with vehicle speed. I've seen lots of similar posts, assuming gearbox or diff bearing but interested to hear what others think? Hoping it's just a wheel bearing but I can't really tell where the noise is coming from. 66k miles, no paperwork for gearbox or clutch work. very "nice" .... I don`t have the wine but the gears are engaging like a pig. beside the usual bearings and some gears + gears clusters I also suspect some fork bending , etc. need to open and investigate .... so many bearings are worn like this , seems to be a common issue. maybe clereance issues , maybe low quality parts , oil , etc....
today I removed the engine and gearbox. engine is striped down, and tomorrow I will open the gearbox too ....
so I have the "usual" bearing issue , beside this I need to replace second gear + cluster and third + fourth + the cluster. car is 2016 / 67.xxx miles. the diff and other bearing are ok but I will replace them all. what brand to use , SNR? I used SNR bearings, changed all the seals as well, but my supplier couldn't get one of the deals, so had to go to Renault for that, gearbox has been faultless since and i did a good few trackdays and running a lot of power and too
