Hey, Finally got the 250 on the rollers today to find out whether or not the bluefin stage 2 map that is on it is any good. She ran a max of 294bhp, 367ftlb before hitting the boost limiter. The car is running a forge intercooler, forge recirc valve, scorpion exhaust cat back and a sport cat. When you hit max boost it always throws a fault, giving check injection and check anti pollution. I always thought nothing of it and just cleared it. Turns out the cause of this is the mapping parameters, it's hitting 1.7bar and then going into limp. The guy said because of this the car is chucking in more fuel to protect, bringing back the power. Annoying because it seemed the car would have made more had it not been cutting! I asked him to keep a close eye on the air fuel ratio, he said it ran a little bit lean on the lower end but it richened out as you got going and it was nothing of any concern. The actual curve of the graph doesn't look the worst, what do you guys think? Toying with getting another map to stop the lights coming on and seeing if I can get it nearer 315, but it's a lot of money for 21 brake. Edit: The notes from the technician were: Car was boosting to 1.7bar hitting boost limiter bringing up code DF064 Fuel was 13afr low down dropping to 11.8 then once fault code is trigger going to 11-10.8 afr
AFR's are decent enough, however thats a LOT of boost for the power output. I was ~30 bhp more on the stock turbo with less boost. As happy as you may be, I really would recommend you going elsewhere for a proper calibration to be put on to it.
How does the torque compare to other cars you've seen? I was expecting to see around 330ftlb. The main thing for me is that the map is safe, it isn't going to throw a rod or something. It would be nice to get more power out of it, just depends if I can justify the cost of a map. The bloke who did the dyno does custom mapping, said he could do it from the ground up and would expect to see 320 out of it. Tempting, I'm miles away from RS which everyone seems to rave about, and I definitely don't have that kind of money.
Got her mapped again by the same bloke who did the dyno. He managed to get it up to 314 brake, 293ftlb torque. Haven't collected it yet, a bit concerned about the torque spike and how high the figure is.... He said there are is no longer boost cut / fault codes which is good news!
Risky torque on stock internals and clutch, Id be asking why it peaks then drops then builds again. Any AFR/Boost logs?
Yeah I asked about that spike and he said it was the boost levelling out and of no concern. By the time I got there it had been played with a bit more and the spike wasn't so bad. It made 324bhp 404ftlb. Torque gong in the wrong direction :/ Unfortunately the afr sensor wasn't set up to log. He quoted similar figures, not running lean at least.
That torque figure is really high, I'm doubtful the stock turbo can even flow enough for that number, but I t still, good improvement over what you have, even if the torque, if correct is touching the limits of what the at cost components can handle
Yeah I'm happy with what I got against what I paid. It actually revs to where it should now instead of limiting at 6k, I get no engine lights and the car is much more responsive at the lower revs. Hopefully the torque isn't too high, I'll have to get it on another set of rollers to cross check. Got a video currently uploading of the run!
