Stage 2 @ 95k + miles . . . am I stupid???

  1. Hey,

My 225 is coming up to 96k miles on the clock and going by the repairs/servicing I've done so far it has not been looked after.

I'm working towards a stage 2 map and 300bhp, just wondering if I'm pushing my luck on an engine with soo many miles.

I also use it as a daily! S-:

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Rich

  2. These engines seem to suffer very little from wear, I've stripped 2.0 clio engines (same engine just n/a) with well over 100k and the factory bore honing marks are still visible.

It just seems everything else around them that lets go lol

  3. A mate of mine has bought an R26 for track use with over 90k on it, been mapped to stage 2 with supporting mods and gets driven very very hard

  4. 95k is nothing on a modern engine. My old 172 had done well over 130k and the engine was bang on.

Do people still think that a car's life is over when it hits 100k?

  5. i think most people do yes

  7. Megan's ?, what's the spec on it, mapped ?

  8. My old 225 was on 80k when I got stage 2. Ran like a dream

  10. Sweet thanks for the reassurance fella's . . .

I will crack on with the mods and keep my fingers crossed (-:

Just got a bit paranoid since there are quite a few shed's selling on Ebay and engines for parts, makes you think the car is coming to the end of its life.

Although having said that I bet there's a fair few mint R5's still floating around.

As long as it's been looked after and serviced, then theres no reason why you shouldn't.
