Driving me totally mad at the moment, there is a high pitched squeak coming off the car somewhere, if I get out a rock the car from side to side it does it, however if I push down/bounce above the suspension on the front it doesn't. It is definitely coming from the front somewhere, front right I think. Anyone had this issue, or any ideas what it might be so that I can grease it or do something....
Never had this problem but my thoughts would point towards an anti roll bar rubber if it's only evident on side to side motion.
Don't think brake related, if I rock the car side to side it happens...it does not happen when applying breaks or even when coasting. Driving me mad! It is the sort of squeaking you'd imagine a mouse making if that makes sense lol...
My 250 Cup was squeaking, just like a mouse is the best way to describe it, drove me mad too! It could be heard at very slow speeds, crawling in traffic etc. I was convinced it was the suspension, but turned out to be brake related, had new pads fitted all round, and a general clean up and its fine now. Apparently the inner brake pad can seize to the caliper and it won't quite fully release, I was told that it is reasonably common on the Brembos.
Did it happen to you when braking at low speeds? Mine doesn't do it when braking at all, is it likely to be brakes given that I can make the car produce the sound by rocking it side to side?
Funnily enough no, it would be just when creeping along at very slow, almost stationary speed, that's why I was convinced it was suspension related. They also changed the pins when they put new pads in. Good as gold now the mouse has moved out
Driving me mental, car is going to have gearbox/clutch checked on 28th July so I will add it to the list of things to be checked when it goes in and turn the radio up for now. Thanks
Is the sound of leather under tension? like the scene in SNATCH when Tyrone squeezes into the getaway car.
The inner pistons were seized in both sides of my 2011 cup too.......squeaks and not great pedal feel, but still passed mot without even advisory! Pistons had surface corrosion......kind of powdered white shit which freed easily. Pedal is awesome now and threatens to put me through the windscreen on a regular basis! :-)
Just thought I would share the outcome with everyone. Car went into Renault for a couple of small niggles. They said they have fixed the squeaking and that it was caused by an air con pipe rubbing up against the chassis somewhere, they have resolved the issue, due to pick the car up later.
