i know this has been asked before and have read all the posts I can find. Car has had all the brake lines repaced and one rear caliper removed to have a bleed nipple screw insert repaired. I have also fitted the clutch damper delete line. I have helped and bled and bed using a pressure bleeder and there is no air coming out of the clutch or brakes. The pedal is really spongy and even pumping it doesn't help give a firm pedal. Brakes on the road are crap so I either have an issue or there is still air in the system. I have read that there can be an issue if air gets back into the ABS module but given I can't get a pedal even when pumping I wonder if I have another issue I.e the master cylinder. I assume there is no way other than using Clip to open the abs valves to get any air out ? Any info would be appreciated
You have air in the ABS unit, it needs to be plugged in to enable the valves to be opened, i had the same with my 225 after changing the brake hoses, took it to my local garage they had a machine and did it for me
as said could well be air in ABS had same as you after component change took chance with vacuum kit and rather than push air through system sucked it out each caliper and it worked pedal rock solid, this little kit works brilliantly use all time now for clutch and brakes. of course there's no guarantee it'll work in your case
Thanks guys. Had it at 20 PSI, clutch first then rear left, rear right front right front left but to be honest I have bled the brakes that many times that sequence is now def not the issue. Have only bled the clutch once but pretty sure this is a brake issue as the clutch operation is perfect. I initially bled it after the hose changes but then had a leak at the rear left bleed nipple, that turned out to be damaged threads on the caliper. I took the hose off blanked it straight away and sent the caliper off for repair. After refit I bled it loads, I can't honestly say whether the pedal was ok or not after the bleed pre caliper removal.
Did you bleed it from both nipples on the front calipers, how much fluid did you flush through each caliper. When you pumped it up too 20psi did you leave it for 10 minutes to make sure it didn't drop.
Yeh I am used to using it on other cars def no leaks or pressure loss never had this issue bleeding a system before.
If it isn't dropping pressure than that's good. I'd bleed it, left front, right front, left rear, right rear.
Thanks Danny but there is no point bleeding it again the same way the sequence is now irrelevant given the number of times I have been round.
