250 Splitting hub carrier and pivot

  1. Has anyone split the hub carrier and hub pivot on a meg 250 before? I've removed all the nuts and bolts and can not split them even using a ball joint splitter and a big hammer I've still had no luck!
     
  2. Which part cant you split?I take it you have the bottom half off that holds the swivel joint that gets knackered & are left with the top joint attached to the strut assembly?

    Are you talking about removing this joint....

    If so, I tapped it out of the hub carrier using a hefty hammer from above (all held nice and securely in a vice on a workbench), it took several whacks and moved a little with each hammer blow (bit of an awkward angle with the hammer due to the rest of the hub carrier being in the way).

    As for the hub carrier top ball joint mine seemed fine, there I never removed these and kept the hub carrier attached to the upright via the upper ball joint the whole time when i replaced the lower ball joint.
     
  4. I'm trying to remove the hub carrier with the bottom ball joint attached to it but the upper ball joint is stopping me from doing this as its stuck solid! I will try and get a pic shortly.
