Speaker Upgrade

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Nitro94, Sep 15, 2020.

  1. I want to upgrade my speakers because the stock ones are awful but I know absolutely nothing about stereos and speakers. I’ve read some of the threads about upgrading speakers but I want something simpler.
Is it possible to buy some better speakers that are the same diameter and just solder them in where the old ones were or is it more complex than that.
I’m not looking for crazy amazing sound I just want something better than stock.
    Any help is appreciated thanks.

  2. Youll need more than a speaker upgrade mate, the standard stereo is poo. Most on here fit a pioneer headunit amp

and fitted with one of these two looms model depending

    early models

    Later models

    obviously changing speakers will help.

youll require four speakers, i think there 13cm, make and type will be required taste eg 2-way, 3-way etc
And theres two tweeters on the dash and if you drill a hole in the rear cards, theres a cable for tweeters in the back.
The speakers will need dacia duster specific cable adapters, and tweeters clio/megane mk2 cable adapters.
Speakers will require ring mounting adapter bothe front and back.

  3. And an underseat sub and its perfect

  4. Hi, thanks for the reply. Sorry to sound completely stupid but I really don’t know much about stereos. I take it an amp is something I would plug into the back of my head unit and then plug the speakers into the amp? Will I still be able to use the steering controls if I’m using an amp?
Also do you have a link to where I can get the correct adapters.
    Many thanks

  5. Also I’m almost defiantly gonna break some door clips doing this, is there somewhere cheap they can be brought or is it gonna be a ridiculously expensive item that can only be brought from Renault

  6. I got some the other day from amazon to do the door strap .. £5.99 for 20 seemed fair to me  0031a3a21ead8d9f9a5baa2724be8a6c.jpg

  7. No you buy the loom, remove trim and get thr stereo out, plug the loom between the stereo and the cars loom, and halfway down part of the new loom (speaker/power) theres plugs, unplug and plug the amp cables into this, (first off all running the cables behind the glove box to stereo area) plug into the amp, job done.

unfornately both front door cards need to come off, and old speakers are rivited in so need drilling out. Rear seats need to come out plus trim to get the rear cards out. I bought my bits via ebay and local audio place.

  8. To make a big difference to the sound everything above is true, however if you want to keep things simple and don't have tweeters in the dash, the speakers linked below should give a worthwhile upgrade. Experience of the 6in version in a previous car proved to be very successful, although don't expect miracles bass wise as 13cm speakers are never going to go very low.

  9. hey. Do you have a link at all? Thanks.
