Hi all So I've recently picked up a 275 trophy, very happy. I read the stereo was not great, weightsaving and all that, but am surprised at the lack of bass. I'm really not some drum and bass obsessed sub woofer desiring [insert choice of noun here] but I am quite surprised at the lack of depth to the sound and wondering if just replacing the standard speakers could deal with this. Any ideas/experience. I definitely don't want to add a sub or any other speakers, just replace the standard ones Cheers
You're pretty limited by the fact the speakers are 13cm, so there's only so much a change of speakers can do. I played about with the sound settings but all that did was make them distort so I changed them to some top end Pioneer's but still ended up adding a little Alpine sub to fill in the the bottom end. I have the sub set to only about a 3rd of its available output - nice and subtle, you only realy notice when it's not there rather than it rattling your fillings. I didn't really want to go to all the trouble of installation - it's a fairly involved process to do right, especially if you have wiring OCD like me, but now it's done I'm very happy with the performance/cost of the system.
Im sure I must be able to get more out of the speakers - maybe I am imagining it but I have a clio 182 which is mostly strpped out, still has the 2 speakers in the doors but the others are gone, and its sound way better than the megan.
I´d replace last week the OEM speakers for Alpine ones, same diameter. Obviously don´t make a brutal difference, but notice better and cleaner sound and deeper bass. You´ll need a pair of rings to fit the new speakers, and for sure, a fistful of clips for the door panels. I repeat, you´ll don´t get a dance-car but I recommend it, worth for the money.
You can buy Subwoofers that sit under your seat. Not as powerful as one in the boot but may give you that extra punch you require... https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category_m-underseat-subwoofers_c-2741.htm
