  1. What size speakers do we have in our 225's?

  2. 13cm very shallow though.

  3. can we make a mdf adaptor?

  4. You could yeah but you'd have to leave the speaker covers off

  6. I like that.

  7. Are there any specific models that fit that are still being made?

I know Pioneer did a set that were designed for the Megane II but they're not cheap or easy to get hold of so much now.

Wondered if there were any other speakers shallow enough to fit the OEM speaker holes? I'd love to upgrade the speakers in my Trophy.

  8. Vibe do some that are the same depth but they need a locating lug cutting off/modification

  9. Is that to cut off the actual speaker itself?

That's not such a big deal as I've done that on speakers before with a pair of snips.

Do you know which model Chris? I'm itching to ditch the OEM speakers.

  10. id like to know this too

  11. Looking at the tech spec of the Pioneer TS-0131Cs it appears (if I'm correct that is) they were 46mm deep, which was the reason they fitted as they had to be shallow.

So I'm thinking any speakers that are 13cm and a depth of 46mm or less shouldn't be a problem.

In fact these models show the same depth as the Megane specific Pioneer speakers -

The pioneers are crap anyway unless you plan on changing the HU.

  15. I'm assuming the OEM headunit is a bit underpowered for the Pioneers or are they just not that great?

I'm still in two minds whether to take a punt on a set of speakers that are the correct depth or at least the same or less than those Pioneers. Under 46mm.

  16. Chris are these the components you're talking about as just picked these up from Halfords.

  17. Yeah those are the ones. I've got them in the rear. Let me know how/if they fit I might bin off my pioneers for them.

  18. Fingers crossed for the front then.

They are the same mounting depth as the Pioneers so can't see why they'd problematic.

Ed aka LiquidF1 has offered to give me a hand as well so less likely to cock it up haha

  19. No joy with these need to get my money back this weekend.

The basket on the back is the wrong shape. The OEM speakers taper in to such an extent a lot of after market speakers are going to be tricky.

The inside of the door cards has built in surround that goes round the top and back of the speaker. No doubt to protect it from the elements. I'm loathed to cut that about personally.

If could be done but wouldn't be confident the speakers wouldn't end up wet!

  20. Have you had any joy finding some decent speakers to fit in the front yet Alex_225?
I fancy changing my speakers and head unit as the standard megane setup is pretty pants, do the pioneer Pioneer TS-G1322i 210W fit in the front then? I guess they're not amazing but still better than standard? And then I could put any good 13cm speakers in the rear as depth is not an issue in the back? This correct?
    Cheers guys

  21. I couldn't say about the back mate but the fronts definitely needs the Pioneer custom fit speakers.

It's not so much the mounting depth but how the OEM speakers taper in at the back to fit into the door card so normal aftermarket speakers will struggle.

I've not got any further with my speakers as yet unfortunately.
