250 Spare wheel for Megan RS 250

  1. Hi All

We figured that we have the following options for a spare wheel (we're not a big fan of the current puncture kit in the boot). We have the 19inch STEEV speddline alloys.

    1. I remember reading somewhere that the factory one (sold when vehicle is purchased) can only fit on the back wheels of the car. So if we had a puncture at the front, we would need to swap the back wheels to the front and put the spare on the back due to the large brake disc at the front (We have the non-cup chasis)? I think it would be too much hassle for my wife.

    2. Can a normal megane coupe spare wheel fit in the boot? What is the size we need to look for? We can probably locate one from scrapyard/ebay but would it come with a jack and central mounting screw to secure down the spare wheel?

    2. To bypass the issue of swapping the back wheel to the front, can we purchase a NON-RENAULT spare wheel from ebay or somewhere and can still fit in the spare wheel space in the boot? Where would I locate a jack and the screw cap to secure the spare wheel down in the wheel well? Also, what size wheel will fit?

    Many thanks

  2. A normal 18" alloy and tyre fits the spare wheel recess. Ditch the bling spec 19" wheels if punctures are a concern :tongueout:

  3. I got a space saver from Ads on here for £59, and then I think it was about £70 for the tyre itself.

I bought my car used and it came with the jack even though it only had the repair kit, does your car not have a jack at all?

  4. I have just checked and I have spare 17" steel wheel and jack. I am surprised that you don't have one. Does it mean that it was optional equipment?

  5. It was an optional extra, they only give the puncture repair kit as standard. I don't know if that extends to a jack and a wrench too, but I suspect it does because I found the socket size on the wrench in my car was too big for the bolts!

  6. Ads@Renault is a user on here that works for Renault Wolverhampton, and he offers discounted prices on genuine spare parts. From what I've read on a thread in the feedback section he is having trouble accessing this site so people are contacting him on the cliosport website, but hopefully he can get back on here!

I don't think I can advise on that wheel you posted, I can't remember the part number so I'm not sure if it will fit.

Wrench should be with a 17mm socket and you can get a scissor jack from the likes of Screw Fix and Halfords.

  7. Ok, I've figured out a few things now.

Spend a whole weekend with my dad cleaning and serviving the car and realised that my car does in fact have the jack and wrench:smile:, so just need a spare wheel now. would anyone know which Renault car has the same space saver size as the RS 250 & 265. i've just priced up a new one and it's coming out at £132.62. I want to try my luck at a scrap yard but unsure which one will work. Thanks.

  8. Where did you find your jack and wrench as I don't think I have one ?? Cheers bud

  9. It is location at the bottom right corner under the carpet/board- quite easy to miss.

  10. Need a tyre for the wheel, can anyone please tell me the size of their space saver wheel size on their 250/265? Thanks.

    Width: ?

    Inch: 17 inch

  11. 135 80 17 103m was the size I put on mine

  12. I tried my luck at a few scrap yards today, no luck....lots of 16 inch standard wheels and 15 inch spares:worried:...wasn't sure if they will fit as the brake disc and caliper looks like it was approx 14 inch...might have to fork out for the 17inch space saver....shame I could have picked one up for a tenner.

  13. Not a fan of the 19's Sargara? I would like to know why, because I have them too.

P.S. if anyone is "ditching" their 19" wheels, I'll have one :-)

  14. This would seem more suitable, not sure if it fits, to check take off an allow and try

  15. That's a lot of money for a scuffed up wheel with a bald tyre...

  17. Ah it was you who bought it!! I was going to buy the pair of them but heyho. If you're not fast you're last

  18. Drunkenmaster was looking to sell his wheels at some stage I believe
