225 Sorry for asking, but 17" alloy suitable for a Mk2 RS?

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by manifold, Mar 1, 2016.

  1. I have zero idea of what dimensions the alloys are.

Running 18s at the minute but thinking of picking up some 17s for track days.

What are the key numbers I need to know when I go ask the man about a set?

Follow up, what size tyres suit the 17s then that won't mess up my speedo?

  2. Have a look on Clio197.net to see if there's any OZ Ultraleggera for sale.

They're 17"x8" and ET55 you'd need 225/45R17 tyres (nice common/cheaper tyre size than some too which is good.)

  3. Great shout - they are sooo much cheaper......

  4. Legend. There's a few places around me that do alloys so want to check the dimensions. thanks!

  5. I run 17x8 ET55 OZ Alleggerita HLT with 235/40/17

If you're going to keep the 18s for the road I'd get some 235/45/17 DZ03G for track tyres. That size is closest to the standard 235/40/18

  6. Have you used dz03's? Debating between them or the 888's for my track wheels

  7. Thanks but mine are 225/40/18

  8. Go wider

  9. Much difference to the handling with 235 at the corners?
