265 Sloppiness in Top of Steering Input

  1. Hi guys,

Recently bought a 265 CUP, absolutely loving it so far. Proper animal to drive.

This may not even be an issue, but I've only driven 2 Megane 3 RS's, so unsure if it's meant to feel this way or not.

When driving at low to mid-speed, with the wheel at top dead center, the first 5-10 degrees of steering input feels quite vague & sloppy. Like, not that responsive. There is a bit of response, but not as much as I would anticipate for a sports car with renowned handling. Once you turn past 10-15 degrees, the steering weighs up and feels exactly how I think it should.

The suspension was rebuilt 10,000 miles / 2 years ago, so I'm struggling to it's ball joints, but the symptoms seem to point that way.. Car also had new wishbones, track rod ends and anti-rotation links at the same time..

    - Does the new wishbones from RPD come with OE bushes fitted? Or is there a possibility old bushes were re-used?
    - Could ball joints really be shot after 10,000 miles?

Any help would be massively appreciated. Cheers

  2. Found a post on FB Megane Owners group. Sounds like a similar issue to mine. They're saying wishbone bushes. It looks from RPD pictures that the new wishbones come with bushes so.. they were changed 10k miles ago? Very confusing..
I think I need to do:
    - Alignment
    - Wishbone bushes
    - Inspect my ball joint and wheel bearings
