I own a 2010 rs 250 cup up in sunny Aberdeen. I realise we are supposed to be the oil capital of Europe but we don't all own an oil rig. So why is it that on getting a quote for a service at 26000 miles and coming up on 6 years old I was quoted a grand and a half. Can anyone recommend a garage in the north of Scotland who charges reasonable prices for the work they do instead of for brain surgery. £1054 to replace the timing belt, really.
Laughable quote. I work for a Renault dealer here in Northern Ireland and we do belt changes for £399. Would be cheaper for you to get the boat over lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I realise that, just can't understand how they can be so expensive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cabin filter £84. Coolant £184. Brake fluid £54. Air filter £38. Spark plugs £94. Timing belt change £1054
Sounds like they don't really want the job, at that price. It's always worth travelling a little to a specialist IMHO.
If you're willing to take a drive then SWR in Stirling have been top notch with me for the past couple years. They are known for being Renaultsport specialists and I'm sure plenty on here will vouch for them. I think their price for timing belt change I'd in the region of £550-600, and I never paid anywhere near that much on cabin filter, air filter, brake fluid, coolant and plugs last year, those prices are taking the piss to be honest.
SWR are spot on, They have mine in just now for fitting of a replacement engine/hybrid. Reasonable prices as well.
Same situation here in that I'm also from Aberdeen and looking for a belt change, best place Ive found is RENTEC (Edinburgh). Superb reputation and very reasonable costs... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
+1 on Rentec in Edinburgh. I think they have recently dropped their prices on belt change and it might be under £500 now. Best check with them but they are definitely the cheapest I have seen. Reputable and friendly too, have been going there for 3 years with my R26
RENTEC fixed price of £400 (inc vat and materials). That's where I'm going.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Off down to rented tomorrow for all the belts water pump and a service all for £630 so will let you know how I get on.
Returned from rentec Edinburgh yesterday and have to sing their praises. Was supposed to be getting all belts done and service unfortunately the dephaser pulley hadn't turned up as expected but as the car is relatively low mileage for it's age ,27000 I wasn't too bothered and gave the go ahead for all the rest of the work. While sorting this out I asked if they could look at the swivel bearings as the car had been handling like a pig recently. I then left for a day in the city centre. About 3 pm I got a call to confirm both bearings were shot and since the belts and service were finished would I like the work carried out at a slightly reduced price owing to the dephaser pulley not turning up. Just remember these guys normally knock off at 5.30pm and they were willing to carry on just to save me another 200 mile round trip another day. Car was ready to pick up at 7.15 and I've got to say I couldn't fault the service. Any garage willing to put in this sort of extra work of the cuff like this has to be a rare thing and I couldn't recommend them more highly.cheers guys !
Superb that!! I'm off to rentec in just over 2x weeks for belts also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
