Seat belts mounting

  1. Hi!
Does anyone have a guide on how to change the seat belts on a Renault Megane 3 RS?
Is it difficult or can you do it at home, without going to a workshop!?
After the exchange, are there any errors that appear, or is it error-free?
I have the black seat belts and I will mount them in another color...

    Thanks

  2. I did this a few weeks ago it’s an at home job but virtually all the rear interior and seats need to be removed.

I started rear seat bench out, then from boot forward removing all trim and rear cards to access everything

At about this point you can remove front seat belts and rear seatbelts left and right lol ..

The middle rear seatbelt needs you to fit a zip to the existing zip teeth to undo and close the cover on the double bench and play around with internals to access seat belt. (Do this out of the car)

All in it was a good 3-4 hrs I reckon.

Fronts have plugs for seat restraint system I have a 2010 250 and fitted 275 red belts and had no issues or lights but did disconnect battery whilst I did all the work.

Looks good once done .. but I don’t fancy swapping them back anytime soon lol

  3. It is a huge help, thank you very much!!
Did you have to put some new clips in the trims?
i wonder if they come out easily without breaking anything :grimacing::grimacing:

  4. I bought some just in case then typically didn’t use one of them lol if you take your time and use trim tool I think you will be ok

  5. Does the Right/Left seat belts have some indication of they are R/L or you can put them where you "want"?

  6. I just looked at the plug position and the way they sit with locator tab and bolt etc. Worked it out easily enough, they are different part numbers left and right so don’t think they are interchangeable.

When you get new belts more than likely they will be fully retracted and locked so you will have to remove the plastic cover and move the ball bearing inside to pull the belt out. Lots of videos on YouTube to help if needed.

Not the best .. but you get the idea on ball bearing

Once you get belt out so they are not locked I tied seat belt in a loop to stop it retracting back in until fitted.

  7. That's really a big help!! I didn’t know they got stuck like that :hushed::hushed:

  8. Me neither. I'd expect a new belt to work.. I guess its a safety feature to stop them being jammed before fitting. Keeps the belt in excellent nick too

  9. For security reasons of course! I knew they were locked, but I never thought that the solution to that was so simple:sweatsmile:

  10. I have a Cargo net bar to go into my 275. Assuming I have to go through the same process as you did here? I'm not too worried about removing the seatbelts, would be happy enough tucking the belt into the plastics rather than the reels out and then try sort resistors etc.

  11. I think ktec bar can be fitted without trim removal .. unsure on others .. I’d leave the seatbelts fitted pretty sure RS275 Trophy had both fitted at same time

  12. Found the time to fit my Cargo net today, managed to get the rear seatbelts & the mounting bracket out without fully stripping the rear. Just carefully pushing the trims far enough to get the bits out. Sadly wasn't as lucky as you with no broken clips though.

Got the Cargo Net Fitted, now just to find time to fit my Ktec Boot mat to finish off the rear!
