Saying hi - new member & soon to be r26 owner.....or maybe it'll be an M3...

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by Pirran, Dec 1, 2014.

  1. Hi I am new to the site so thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Tunisia at the moment, where I have an Alfa 159 3.2ti, and back in the Uk I have an elise mk 1 sport160.

I need a "family car" for when I get back to the UK for xmas since I now have a young child, and I have decided to get either an r26 or an e46 m3. Been keeping an eye out on PH and other sites/forums, and have also joined M3 cutters. I realise the two cars are quite different propositions both in terms of the driving and running, but both are on my (fairly long) "must own at some point" list, and whether it's an M3 or r26 that I get depends on what is available between now and xmas! Not the ideal way to select a car, but living overseas has its drawbacks...

Having lurked a bit on here reading up on r26s, it's interesting to see a fair few other members moving from r26s to e46 M3s and vice versa.

If anyone is selling or thinking of selling their r26 (pref black or blue, no decals) or M3 (manual, coupe, interlagos blue (if CS), Laguna seca blue or steel grey) then let me know ASAP!

    cheers
    Pirran

Wow how wierd! I'm half tunisian, dads from tunis but we stay in Hammamet!

Good luck with the search and thanks for joining up!

  3. Asslema ye khoya! Fairly near me mate - I am in Kelibia, where my wife is from. Like you, my son has the honour of being half Tunisian....

Thanks for the welcome and luck with the search. Since posting the above I have decided that I'd rather scratch my r26 itch than the M3 itch first.....but it's not good buying a car with a stopclock ticking. I'm really hoping for something a bit tasty (remap, exhaust etc) in black or blue........By next week!

    Oh god....another Naith

    Just kiddin, welcome along fella.

  8. LOL Cheers guys......

Naith Samahni I am sorry to disappoint you but apart from my smattering of Arabic and a love of kefteji and couscousi bil osbane I am 100% British.....it's my wife who is 100% Tunisian, and hence my son who's a mongrel!

That Renault 4 is what I would describe as show condition for Tunisia! Trying to keep my Alfa unscathed from the perils of Tunisian touch parking and all the unlicensed mopeds is a constant source of stress......

Ahhh sorry you're English and she's Tunisian!!! Was wondering why your english was so good hahaha! I taught myself from childhood so i can get along ok yeh, mad decision to move there though mate. Saying that i'm probably going to buy land in Hammamet soon and build a nice beach house for the family that my tunisian cousins can go to when they please too so its looked after... I might be over in january so i'll give you a shout, not hard to meet up over there is it, bar customs literally raping me unless i go over with my old man.

Brik au thon and merguez with Ouija for me! hahaha!

  10. Yeah mate sorry to disappoint! Funny what you say about your English (and the nice customs people) - when I was in the customs at la Goulette last year trying to extract my alfa from their raping mitts I met a Uk based Tunisian with perfect English but in a proper full on Brum accent. He was a legend. I hope you have a full on Manc accent bro!

LOL well the the decision to move out here does have some reasoning behind it - I travel to lots of other countries for work, so since I am away from home a lot, it's good for the mrs to have her family nearby, and good for my sone to have his cousins about. Plus I avoid paying tax and the rent on our 5 bed house 100 m from Kelibia beach is only 300 quid a month....

Mind you since you mention buying land over here - the sale prices for land and property out here are mental when you compare them to average salaries - even more out of kilter than in the UK.

LOL I almost selected ojja merguez last night, but the osbane won over. Anyway mate, do give me a shout in january - that'd be fun. I get back here on the 3rd and as yet don't have any other work trips booked for the rest of jan (though that can change at a moment's notice).
