Rusty wheel nuts

  1. All my wheel-nuts are rusty along with the locking-nuts. The car is 5 years old so not too much of an issue and I’m happy to replace them, but a 6-month old CUP-S that I recently looked at was exactly the same!

    Do they all just rust??!!

Any suggestions please for rust-proof bolts?

    Thanks!

  2. Mine are very rusty looking, the previous owner had them covered with the black plastic caps so I never noticed until I removed them, I'm looking to replace them all with black nuts next year instead of using the caps which I think may have been holding some moisture inside them maybe.

The other members on here will know better but I'm guessing TPI bolts are the way to go?

  3. A new set of nuts and locking-nuts is going to cost a huge amount of money!! My Q5 has plastic caps over all the nuts and it looks fine (the nuts are actually all un-rusty underneath therefore perhaps they’re a different metal to Renault’s), were your caps standard do you know? or had the previous owner sourced them from somewhere?

  4. They are not standard no, they are just the cheap plastic caps you can buy off Ebay, they make it look much better (when they stay on) I just don't like knowing that my nuts are rusty so I'm willing to pay for the best ones just for piece of mind, specially if I take it to the track next year.

  5. Thanks, I will look for some of the plastic caps for the time being and see how I get on with them.
