Rubbish Radio

  1. Hi this is my first post here as I've only recently bought my first Megane RS after having owned many different hot hatches including my previous car an Astra VXR which I owned for over 5 years. One thing that needs sorting(apart from the fact I find it hard icon1.png to drive slow and have been caught speeding not once by twice already)is the terrible radio it comes with. Which is not very loud when turned up. Often loses stations for no apartment and has now stopped connecting to my phone even though it did for the first couple of weeks I owned the car. Has anyone here had issues with the standard radio and has anyone replaced it for something better? I've attached a photo of my Megane P1010430a.jpg

  2. Yay another blue one

First yes these Renault Stereo's are shite, i wan't to change mine but at the same time if you do this the top dash display will become mostly redundant but then i don't have the cup version or the sport display mode thing (forgot the name). The standard stuff has good features with the hands free but it only has a 4 x 15w output.

Changing the speakers may help a little but with the crappy output it wont be much. I've not had any issues with the phone loosing connection though.

  3. Hi, yes radio is awful. I put in an Alpine sub woofer in the boot, radio is OK but the ipod sound is very good now, volume is always above 24 to get a decent sound.

  4. Is there anyone who have fitted some small sub+amp under the front seat? To me it looks like there are some room under the Recaro buckets.

  5. are there RCA jacks on the standard headunits?

  6. No RCA jacks as far as I know. I've got the Arkamys 'upgraded' system and it's very poor. To add a bit of low end I installed a Focal 8" slimline subwoofer under the passenger seat (I had to jack the rear seat up a bit to provide clearance). This amp takes both low level (RCA) and high level (speaker output). I located the rear speaker wires and spliced into these to provide the high level input to the amp. I connected power to the rear cigarette lighter.

It's now what I would consider to be just OK.

  7. Don't think I've ever experienced a car with such poor quality standard sound system.....biggest let down on my 265 by far!
