Will be possibly looking at a custom map on my megane RS265 once i have my turbo back CGR exhaust fitted, with 200cell sports cat. Car has already been mapped by previous owner and the tuner is unknown. Living in South Wales i'm looking at a fair journey for a decent map. The 2 i'm considering is RStuning or engine dynamics. Opinions on both? Engine dynamics have very good deals on their maps booked in September. Did message EFI but he said he's only just getting to grips with the megane265.
We offer mapping too Chris if you're interested, won't be offended if you choose to go somewhere else but I can talk you through the process if you'd like [emoji4] Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
Thanks, something to consider. Have you mapped many mk3 megane RS's? Can you remove the old map, don't know who the tuner is. How much would the remap be? Custom map? Also how much would you charge for fitting the exhaust should i have it all done with you?
RST have a group buy on at the moment. Via Turborenault.co.uk. Mine is an RST map. I went there because it was closer and they had a GB on saving £100. I've heard good things from both.
Only used ED as RS is miles away. Service and engine rebuild. Getting map put on in 2 weekends. Service and price have been good.
I've got thread about the same thing already. http://rsmegane.com/threads/engine-dynamics-vs-rs-tuning.14201/#post-153891 Both companies get good reviews, I haven't heard a bad thing about either. Once I decide to get my car mapped, I'll be taking it to ED as they are way closer to me than RST. But seeing your coming from South Wales, I guess distance isn't a big issue for you.
I am currently also deciding on whom to use used to have a 182 with an R.S. Tuning supercharged conversion which was very well done and was faultless and was used daily! My friend has a rs250 with a RST map and it goes very well but uses a horrendous amount of fuel and smells fuelly since the map has been put on is this normal?
RS Tuning all the way!!! Great service, good prices and great people!!! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Digging an old thread up, bot long bought a 250CUP for the Mrs and il be making a massive journey to ED to get it mapped (already done by RS) and i can say without even putting the car on the rollers its not making the figures as shown on the graph. Dont get me wrong it goes alright but nowhere near how it should for a 312BHP 365ftlb car, peak TQ @ just over 2.5K so gives you a kick in the backside but after that it feels flat imo
and of course be aware if you've had work done a RST before there's chance the map could be locked depending on which system they used and would need unlocking at RST before can be remapped elsewhere.
Not disputing what you're saying bro, but I've not heard of RST locking their maps before. I chose a 5 1/2hr drive from the south coast up to them, rather than places closer, purely because they were the most recommended in the industry regarding the RS Megane models. I spanked almost £3k with them and couldn't be happier with the results. I will definitely be using them early next year for a forged engine build. But.....I also hear great things about Engine Dynamics too!!! The way I see it..........Do your research, pick a company/person that does what you want doing, if the reviews are good, get there, get the work done, pay your money and enjoy the results!!! SIMPLES!!!![emoji16] Then enjoy the drive home!!! Happy days! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
They dont 'Lock' the ecu with any malicious intent its just the way they interface with the ECU using the RSTuning box which makes it accessible off line should you wish to send the data to them for further tuning. Once you've used the box you have to keep using it and if the next tuner dosent have one you'd need to have the ECU returned to factory standard by RST to continue further mapping. You can purchase the RSTuning box yourself and see if future tuner is happy to use it think its around £200 roughly.
Fair one bro! Surely most people would actually want to see the results of a new map for themselves, if only to see what they've actually paid for, ie the results on the dyno, and the resulting print out of the graphs! Otherwise....who knows what you're actually getting. I appreciate it's handy for those that don't want to travel however many miles, but....are you actually getting the best map for your particular set up?! I would always be questioning the results without hard evidence I'm afraid! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
I didn’t explain it very well, the RSTuning box is an interfere connected between ECU while mapping is taking place and you get your print out after mapping is completed, you can also log date to the box for remote mapping a service RST also offer. One you’ve used the box the ECU need to see it every time.
ED did my rebuild and remap and service a month ago and no complaints. Also can't find anyone that has a bad word to say about them. RStuning is a trek for me. Going to be a bit controversial here but I get the impression there's a bit of kudos implied if you go to RST as they're the most well known as other tuners who may well be as good aren't seen as equal. Saying that I would use them if they were closer to see what all the fuss is about.
Yeah the ECU has to be accessed through a diff security key once mapped by RST which means it cant be accessed through the usual tools. Either buy the RSTuner device £249+vat & postage or get the ECU bench Reset
Morning mate. Please forgive my ignorance and stupidity! I get it now! After a long week away at work, and probably too many beers, I think my mental capacity to understand the simplest of things was seriously diminished! I understand what you're saying now, and I honestly wasn't aware of this! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Mines exactly the same as yours, pulls like a train between 2.5k to 4k @360ft then peaks right off, bhp comes in at 6kish but just feels flat. ED said it was due to the turbo and if I wanted more power or it to hold the 360ft across the rec range I would need a hybrid.
Yeah andys right, with these "small" turbos ure spoilt whith a plethora of epic torque which stuns initially, then once that tails of any f4rt dyno will show a decline in power with stock turbo. Thats what ure feeling . My dyno sheet is a bloody good example for instance
Never had any dealings with engine dynamics but been to rs for cambelt etc and must say top lads. My mate wouldn't let anyone else touch his meg apart from rs. They've fully built his r26 (400 bhp, fully forged engine) and i must say its a work of art
Yeah i know these only have a small turbo but it just does'nt feel to even have 360ftlb.. im going from past exeprience of my MPS which was running around that @ say 3-3.5k, just feels slower than it should Maybe due to the fact its hitting peak TQ straight away as apposed to building up to peak if you get what i mean.. going on some rollers @ the w.end (don't tune megs so no benefit for them to try fudge figures etc and also DD rollers) as even the Mrs doesnt think it feels the power the graph says (her daily)
