Just wondering how everyone is doing with their tyres on theirs? I'm wondering because I've had my car just over 2 months and it's due 2 new fronts already. Oops.
How many miles you done on them mate? were they 8mm when you got it? On my Mk2 R26 I only got 7,000 miles out of a new set of Goodyear Eagle F1s in 235 40 18
Did you get the Turinis with the Bridgestones or the 18s with the Dunlops? Or pay the £1000 for the Cups?
This is the thing. It's only at about 2800 miles. I mean I do hammer it occasionally, but only when it's quiet on the roads. So this is why I'm a bit concerned. Surely they should last longer than that, shouldn't they? And I assume they were 8mm, I bought the car new.
Haha I don't know. Like I said to papps above, It only gets driven hard occasionally. The rest of the time it's in rush hour traffic. This is why I'm a bit concerned. Are bridgestones a softer compound than the michelin then?
You could have the softest compound of tyre ever they should still last longer than that. Are you sure? Any pictures?
Christ - did your car only have delivery mileage on it when you got it? I can't believe they were 8mm 2,800 miles ago lol
LOL - I'm with Mike - WTF!?!? They've worn evenly as well so its not as if incorrect pressures are to blame. I think you may win a prize for that effort - surely its got to be the dealer not having brand spanking new tyres on the front?
Haha! Surely they wouldn't put used tyres on a brand new car straight from the factory? It's not something you check on a brand new car though is it. I certainly would never think to check the tyres on a brand new car when picking it up.
Something not right here, surely? Bridgstones you say? I've got the 18" Michelin PS2s on mine and have done 5k miles - I'd say they are about 50% worn and it gets driven hard. They won't have put anything but new tyres on. To do so just on your car would cost more than they would save. Have you done any track days here?
The markers within the tread are at a depth of 1.6mm aren't they? There is a mil from the top of the marker to the surface of the tyre.
No track days. Think I'm going to ring bridgestone and speak to technical, just to see what they say. Although, they will probably just laugh at me lol.
I've had like 4k and one track day out of my semi slicks. Got Knockhill in Sept then I reckon they will need the bin. So say 5k. Doing well to shred a set of bridgestones in less.
WOW thats some serious wear. Defiantly have your car laser aligned after fitting the new tyres, could save you a lot in the long run.
