Well no, I bought the X-Type because I always had an older daily driver (SAAB 9-3 last 3 years) and a performance car (Elise/Evora) in the past and I missed having something I didn't worry too much about for general things like shopping/going to the pub/car parks, etc. The RS265 is nice but almost seems a bit too nice for ragging on track and the the MG seems too cheap to ignore. TBH I might hate it!
Have a test drive in one I'm pretty sure you will be pleasantly surprised. I had one for 5 years before my r26, dci 175 and now 265. I 100% see where your coming from. I went on track in my zs many times. bought my megane with the intention of getting back out again but feel it's too new/nice yet. I'd happily have one again as a track car. Worth it just for the sound they make. Very underrated cars.
sounds like you have a well set up car there  I do like the newer megs and there more tuneable engines, just a bit on the expensive side yet, not that I'm due a change by any means
I think it's just confidence mate, done quite a few Trackdays in 2015 so got a lot of seat time which has bought me on in terms of track driving! Like I've already said the 250/mk3 is an awesome car and if you were to put a standard r26 and 250 together the differences would be clearly visible.
Yeah I've got a thread on here too, be some more updates soon but currently it stands unwashed for 3 weeks
