You will have to let us know what you end up with power wise. Just had mine done & only managed 301bhp!. (@RST).
Will do!!! I'll stick the graphs up in this thread once it's been sorted. What modifications have you made to your car? What was the torque figure?
Stumbled across this picture again. It was taken on the way to the Ring last summer. All booked up for this years trip as well now, 9th - 15th July. Anyone else going there around that time?
Forgot to get the graphs, but Paul said the torque was there but couldn't achieve the bhp that the mods should give. Piperx panel filter, forge dump valve, Airtec cooler,Milltek non res system & RS tuning decat pipe.He did have a suggestion, which I will be going back to try out. Funds permitting, might get turbo done & injectors.
Hmmm does seem strange. That's a low figure considering the mods you've already done. Definately sounds like an injector issue or turbo is struggling under the load. My injectors were only at 83% at 313bhp. Did Paul mention what yours were running at?
How many times have you taken this to the ring? I was there easter weekend and the trip made me need one haha so bought mine the day I got back
Well was my 1st trip to the ring and it was mental indeed but I got chatting to the 2 French guys staying next house from us and they had 2 track prept megs and wow they where amazing. The fact every other car out there is a meg made my decision very easy indeed
There are several of them in that sort of spec now, They are so far ahead in tuning the Megane on the continent its hilarious
Yes!!! What a car that was. He was with a matte grey m135i, 1m and a stunning blue meg with red Oz similar spec to the LY one but that ended up on the back of a low loader with front end missing
I was thinking that as every megane I saw was pretty much full race car for the road. I Wanted a CAE shifter for my mini but never got round to one but they are awesome bits of kit
Yeah that's the one. Awesome spec.
How do these CAE shifters make a difference? They do look a rather nice piece of engineering but what difference can they make, isn't most of the action/feel to the gear change down to the box itself, does just tightening up the tolerances in between the stick and the cables make that much difference? The gear change lets the Meg down a bit I think, it's a bit vague.
I've just had a nosey for one for an r26 but can't find anything Is there nothing like the shirt shift mod for the 250yet?
I don't know anyone with a MK3 that's had one fitted. There's been people at Trackdays I've been to where they had one fitted to a Mini. They loved it and only had positive things to say. However, I've always found the Mini box to be more direct than the Megane, even in basic Cooper spec. For £700 you'd expect to notice the difference. I'm not aware of any short shift mods for the Mk3 yet.
Nice, pretty much identical to what mine got. Really makes the car feel, sound and rev healthier. Doesn't feel like it's starving at the top end and just wants to go go goooooooo
GrumpyTwig, what modifications do you have? Paul @ RST said for the mods this should be more than this! ( Not hijacking your thread Ferg).
Just an airtec intercooler and a panel filter if you can call the last one a mod, doubt the IC makes a difference to dyno pulls tbh.
The 272bhp run is with RST decat, milltek non res, panel filter & forge dv. The 303bhp( after map) is a run with no filter, as Paul said that a heavily oiled filter might cause a problem, which it didnt. So 301bhp was the final result.
Your torque curve looks good. Power is down which is obviously when the engine is being asked to pull at the top end. For me, this would suggest a spark/fuelling issue. No AFR line, but an aftermarket front mount will be more consistent in a higher air temp and repeated high revs. Obviously every engine is different, some are stronger than others. This might just be the case?
Dont get me wrong, it goes very well & is an absolute hoot to drive, but, if someone who knows a lot more than me with regards the output that should be expected (Paul RST), then something doesn`t add up.
I notice on that graph that the peak torque is being made quite early could be a contributing factor to the lower peak bhp further up however that car will drive very nice IMO high power figures are not everything.
So ... The decat sounds good. The revving at the end is the car sitting on launch control.
