Rather know now before I pay some chap to fit it...... If it requires a bit of adjustment I see it as a cost to them....,,,
Fitted my Turbo back system the weekend (what a pain the decat is especially off axle stands grrr), and having same issues with over axle section, seems to sit close to axle (just visual haven't tested on the road) and shock, I've ordered new mounts to see if that helps as centre is completely knackered, haven't finished tinkering as ran out of time, I'm fitting cooksport spring the weekend which might make it worse. Sounds good though.
Just paid for mine, hoping the above issues are an easy fix! Not going to be able to fit mine for a while, so will keep an eye on this thread for updates.
To make a long story short, mines still not right. The guys at rentec have adjusted it several times and the overaxle part is still catching on the axle and/or the heatshield over big bumps. They said the centre mount is a little perished so they're gunna order some new mounts which hopefully will solve the issue.
Not yet mate, I passed the number onto the guys at rentec as they said they would contact him on my behalf but they havent been in touch with him as they thought they had sorted it before I gave them the number. I'll probably give him a ring myself, do you know what his business hours are?
Reading on the RS240 site, it does say that they recommend new mounts are fitted at the same time. I guess they wouldn't say that without good reason?
But at the same time, it's an arse covering statement too! I'm sure it will be ok in the end, and if not I'm sure mark will sort the problem out somehow.
Yeah, about the mounts, the reason why I didn't get new ones was, by the time I found out that they recommend fitting new mounts, it was to late to order them in time for fitting yesterday. Tbh, I find it hard to believe that new mounts will magically solve the issues I'm having, but I stand to be corrected.
I emailed Mark, and he said that they haven't had any fitting issues with their systems. He did say if anyone was having problems to email him, so if the new mounts don't solve the issue might be worth asking him.
Mine has just been delivered. Very well packaged. Can't wait to get it fitted, won't be for a couple of months though. Cheers for organising the GB Boardy!
Last update from me on this. As I suspected, the new mounts didn't solve the problem. By 4pm yesterday, Brian from Rentec had tried pretty much everything to get it sitting right, but it's still clattering the heatshield over speed bumps and on rough roads. He also said the centre mount isn't sitting right and is being put under more stress than it should be. He mentioned that they have fitted plenty of the 3" Miltek systems with no such issues. If anyone manages to get theirs fitted with none of the above issues, please let me know how it was done. On the plus side, the exhaust sounds great and it's not overly loud either. It only really starts to roar at over 3500rpm and it doesn't drone at all at motorway cruising speeds. Lastly I wanna say a big thanks to all the guys at Rentec for persevering and trying to get it 100%, nothing was too much trouble and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Just get onto mark mate, I have not heard anything from him for a couple of days though? Did BurtyBurg send you a PM for marks number?
Yeah I've got his number. Brian at Rentec tried to contact him yesterday on my behalf but he had to leave a message, that was pretty late on in the day though. I'll try him again.
Stick at it Benno, I am sure that Scorpion/WhyBee will come up with something to resolve the issue. Particularly with so many of us buying the systems. Also because I will be using Rentec to fit my exhaust system when it arrives, lol On a sidenote, did you go for the non-resonated system? I am glad it does sound good at least and doesn't drone on the motorway
Has anybody managed to get the system fitted yet , with out it catching or rattling the rear axil ......
I spoke to Barrie at Rentec directly about fitting the Scorpion system and he said it was a real pig to fit. After trying every configuration they could, he said they gave up and couldn't resolve the fouling of the heat-shield and/or the rear axle beam. Asked him about other systems they have fitted, and he said this was the worst. Milltek as an example was much easier, and doesn't foul. At this point, I am concerned that these aren't great quality systems and perhaps further development is required from Scorpion. Unless some additional response is given from either Mark@Whybee or Scorpion directly, I intend on cancelling my order! I will send Mark another email to ask him his thoughts about the poor fitting, but unless the answer is suitably positive I will be asking for my money back!
I sent an email to Mark at Whybee and he replied saying that nobody had been in touch with any fitment issues? He did offer to get me a technical contact at Scorpion, so I will pass that onto Benno when he gets back to me. I know they have been selling these systems for quite a while, so how many other users out there have had them?
I still haven't managed to undo the 3 flange bolts... Not alone look at any fitting issues Got to laugh really ;-)
Yeah, Barrie said he had never fitted one of these systems before, so mine was the first. I haven't contacted Mark yet myself, but a technical contact from Scorpion would be great.
Had mine fitted today by mark black worth the 100 mile round trip took him about hour and half to and a few issues but he sorted it thanks to boardy for setting the group buy up
So it's not hitting the heatshield over bumps or fouling the rear axle beam? Please do tell how he did it lol. I phoned scorpion today with the number Ewan pmed me and I explained the issues I was having and he said the tech dept would phone me back, they never =(
