Hi all, took the car to my Indy , Scotts Performance , that looks after my M3 so he can check the error message " check injection ". Its been on for about 4 months but the car runs fine. The error is saying that there is a problem with the inlet flap on the throttle body. The fault message was cleared and then the DPF light came on so we took it for a spirited drive. The light went off, job done. On the way home the DPF light came on again and about 10 mins later the " check injection " message appeared! Aaarrgghhhh!!!! Car still runs fine. I took it for a 30 mins drive last night keeping the revs up to around 4k rpm so the DPF can do a re-gen but alas no joy. Spoke to the stealers and they said they can do a forced re-gen but then the oil , filter and exhaust rubber mounts need replacing. Cost around the £200 mark. I don'tind paying for this but it's not a gauranteed fix. cant delete the DPF anymore as it's an instant MOT failure...any suggestions or experience with this problem??
Hello, You should check exactly what is the error. The DPF lights goes on for a lot of reasons, not only when the DPF is full. Renault has a pretty stupid way of showing the errors with 4 different lights on the dashboard: DPF, Check Engine, Service, Stop. If your problem is the intake flap, this is related to the EGR, not to the DPF but is still an emission issue. My car has no DPF on and there isn't such a big problem during MOT. S.
I thought that the inlet flap was the throttle body on the front of the engine / air inlet. This was an ongoing issue and the fault was cleared. It's only now that the DPF light has come on but not as an error, as the spanner symbol wasn't on. The check injection error came on a little while after. As I understand , that a car with the removed DPF is an instant MOT fail.
The problem is very clear. Your dpf is blocked causing a mass of back pressure effecting your inlet system. You have 3 choices. Spend the £200 and let Renault temporarily clean it for you. Buy a new dpf which will cost a he'll of a lot more or gut the dpf which will not fail the mot. Obviously you can't tell the innards have been removed so the car will pass.
If the DPF is suspected to be hollow (by sound) it will instantly fail an MOT. latest mot guidelines update included it this year. With that said i am looking to have my DPF gutted and mapped out. one less thing to go wrong!
Had a DPF regen carried out by TwoTechs in Dartford. They had to do a software update first. Check injection message still came on but after I fitted a new battery, they reset all the errors , all is now good.
