Can anyone recommend anyone in the North? I'm based at Glasgow just now. I'm wanting a remap and EGR/DPF delete. I know about RStuning. Anyone used Celtic tuning? One near me. RS 175 Lux
Hi RS175 lux, We do remapping and are based in Derbyshire, a bit of a trek I know but have done many before with good results, will sort you out a forum discount of course for your troubles Thanks http://www.marklightfootltd.co.uk/
It's well worth doing, i had my Espace DCi (same engine)done 4+ years ago still going strong with 152k miles on the clock
I had it remapped because of a DPF removal, never had it on a rolling road, but the guy who did it says it should be around the 200 mark, i had an economy/torque remap but the difference was huge, have been told that you can't remove the EGR, don't know if it's true or not
Mine had issues with check injection and going into limp. I've got a cheap I generic code reader and it kept coming up with EGR and pending EGR faults immediately after I cleared them. I managed to find a new unit cheaply (chap didn't know what he had). Fitted it but found coolant in it. It was the EGR cooler split. So fitted a new cooler and the EGR valve and it's been good ever since. I think as long as it's mapped off it should be fine but definitely doesn't like EGR unplugged or just blanked. I understand it measures the mass of EGR there and will go limp if it doesn't get its expected EGR nominal values for the conditions. RS 175 Lux

The reason i had mine done was not long after i bought it, my check engine light came on and loss of power, stopped and restarted sorted it for a day or two, had it checked and they said the DPF was showing 91% blocked, so went to have the DPF removed and remapped, the guy removed the internals and welded back up. He then started to remap it and managed to wipe out the ECU, it would only do 1200 rpm flat out. He then took it to local Renault garage for a reprogram and that didn't do anything, was then told that i needed a new ECU At this point the remap guy gave up and would have nothing else to do with it. Renault gave me a price of about £150 for an ECU, okay i said go ahead. A week later part was in and yes it was the wrong one, they ordered a body control module, also the price was wrong ecu was around £900, so told them to forget it i'll scrap the car, they eventually honoured the original price. Car was working okay but still coming up with engine fault, i then phoned a company called Radical remaps and they came down and sorted it all out, never had a problem with that side since (touch wood ) 4+ years now
Yes I got an online quote yesterday but the response I got only included a remap and not EGR and DPF delete and submitted in your online form. The website looked good but my only concern is you franchise the work so it's as good as the particular local guy, which in my case would by Clyde bank. Having looked a little more it seems these services local to me are offered by an Audi specialist. Cars come in and get flashed based on what they receive from Celtic HQ. In some cases files read and sent off, modified and sent back. I've read quite a few concerning comments on VAG forums about the level of gain (or not) and the amount of times ECUs have been fried or needed replacement involving OE dealer parts (££££). Admittedly most of the online community stuff is from 2008-11. Not much about them since. So maybe the services are unremarkable now? Either way I'm not sure how much sense it is to take a non VAG car to them who may miss something when applying a remap?
