These are awesome Greg thank you! Can't wait to get back out on track! [emoji2] Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Got round to fitting the front and rear bumper decals, as personally I'm a big fan, and the car looks bare without them. They're not genuine decals, but where bought from a recommended source on facebook as Renault want drug money for them! Overall I'm happy, and they certainly look better than many of the really cheap ones available on eBay. Also removed the tints from the rear quarter windows as the doom had been poorly fitted in places, and I'm just not keen on tinted windows regardless! [emoji23] Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Haha yes mate that's me! Looks like I'm waiting for a recovery van! [emoji23] Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Update! We had a quiet day at work yesterday, so myself and one of the tech's tackled fitting the Milltek de-cat I bought. It's a lovely quick and easy job that just takes 30 mins... It's an awful awful job! [emoji30] which took many hours, and much swearing! But well worth it, the Megane has a much more purposeful sound, that in my opinion sounds awesome. I didn't get any photos because it was such an arse of a job we just cracked on, and forgot about the camera. I also won this little beauty on eBay last week, a Forge FMIC for less than half the price of a new one so I was well chuffed. Needs a little more of a clean up, but it's in very good condition, and I intend to get it fitted this evening. All I need now is a set of injectors, and friendly mapper to set everything up properly. I'm looking forward to the rolling road meet on Saturday, not that I expect these mods to do anything without mapping, but it will be good to see how the engine is running regardless. Great result at Surrey Rolling Road! Considering the Megane (as far as I know) hasn't been mapped at least not under my ownership and since I fitted both the FMIC and de-cat it made a healthy 252bhp and 230 torque. Charlie said it was fueling very well, better than some of the mapped cars! [emoji23] Once I get the injectors fitted and an actual mapping session I'm sure both of those figures will improve considerably. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Not much to report on since the RR day in October. The car is absolutely filthy, and is crying out for a good clean but the shitty weather hasn't really inspired me... The Meg hasn't put a foot wrong however, and after so many problems with my Impreza it's so nice just to jump in the car and drive it. The drivers door card pocket has started to fill with water however, which appears to be a common problem, and one I'll investigate soon. Is there a straightforward fix to this? With the decat and fmic now fitted, my next move was to get the Meg mapped and fit some bigger injectors at the same time, but after reading about a few engine failures I'm a little worried now to take this next step! What are peoples thoughts? Is it not worth the risk considering my engine is now at 90k? Or is there something else I can upgrade at the same time to future proof this increase in power? I've read that upgrading the fuel pump would be a good idea, but not sure whether that's the case? Sent from my G8141 using Tapatalk
I'm in the same boat mate, booked in getting bigger injectors and mapped in the new year but seeing about it a lot lately regarding failures is worrying me a bit aswell. My other megs i left the cat on but now fancy the bigger injectors route, mines on around 90k miles aswell. i guess all engines will be different with age so we might be lucky or unlucky. what impreza have you got and what issues you been having? Is it worth changing the fuel pump just in case i would also be interested to know this seen as though my last one failed without warning. (car just wouldnt start one day)
Yeah it's a little worrying isn't it!? [emoji23] I think refreshing the old fuel pump with a new Renault one wouldn't be a bad idea, and if I do end up getting the old girl mapped. I will replace that beforehand for sure! I sold my Impreza earlier this year. https://www.cliosport.net/index.php?threads/801704/ It was a very early Type RA and as much as I loved that car it gave me constant problems, and I needed up selling it with a blown engine and made a huge loss... ooh that's shame about the impreza lovely looking classic aswell!, i'm even more tempted now to stick a new pump it it the more i think about it.
Thats a great result on rr day. Mine made 247 bhp with no map ,just 3" exhaust, air filter. As for mapping to circa the 290 bhp mark it is a huge difference. Just stay below 290 ftlbs torque and 280 bhp and should be good (this is what andy at engine dynamics says as ringlands are an unknown after this ). The above figures are what andy said are safe. Cost me 542 for map and injector upgrade. Details on my build thread.
