Hi [emoji1309] Back in a Renaultsport.. it wouldn’t ever take long! I can’t seem to stay away But I’ve got my AA membership and a 200pc socket set from hellfrauds so what really is there to worry about?? It started with this.. my black gold 182 which ended up caged cammed and unfortunately crashed [emoji22] miss this car so much! Was tight as a nuns proverbial and went like shit off a shovel I only bought it as a stop gap as I truely hated my 8L S3 and I wanted something ‘cheaper’ to tide me over whilst I looked for something Japanese and then I fell in love with it and kicked off my RS love! Aaaaand then this happened thanks to some thieving shitbag crashing into me whilst being chased by police So I treated myself to this... a very dirty, non turbo, barn find Two bin bags of leaves out of the engine bay, some overnight parts from japan and a project thread later and it now looks like this (with 450bhp single turbo, built marlin crawler gearbox and some carbon fibre But there was no way I was using this to get to work as tbh it’s spent a lot of time in bits and fuel would leave me homeless [emoji23] So I bought this.. for £500 [emoji51] And weirdly “without spending any money on it” (lies) It became Arguably one of the cleanest Monaco’s out there.. And d*ckhead here sold it. Bought a mk2 ST3 (loved it - hated the fuel economy) Bought a e92 330D (loved the fuel economy- hated the boredom) Bought a DC5 loved everything about it.... but needed to sell to buy a bigger turbo for the supra and standalone management Which is great and all but doesn’t get me to work so now I needed another car.. [emoji51] I had an itch to scratch So.. after this ever so slightly long winded intro here I have my R26 F1 and I love it [emoji7] This is how I was greeted with it when I went to pick it up 75k on the clock, seems to have been cared for and owner seem to know his RS’s which is always a comfort Number 1201 It has plenty which needs doing but nothing major and mainly involves refreshing stuff rather than fixing which is nice Completely standard bar milltek cat back system which is a lovely system.. not too loud but a deep sound which isn’t intrusive It has had a deep clean but not a detail yet but will be coming soon Seals etc cleaned out which were a bit grim But not as bad as the seatbelts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unbolted the bottoms trapped them in the doors, sprayed with briteclean APC and jetwashed Good as new [emoji1303] Seats were okay but a bit greasy where you would expect Used some hot microfibres followed by woolite solution diluted 4:1 to remove this then picked the fibres back up with a vac The rest came out okay.. paint is a bit flat but I can’t wait to see what it looks like once it’s corrected and didn’t have time to do the exterior Headlights were looking a bit cack so removed them wet sanded and polished them up and replaced the tired and weirdly dented diamond badge Came out well [emoji4] also fitted new number plates from crazy plates.. the front is a tiny bit slimmer to match the recess but nothing noticeable but fresh plates always make a difference I think It’s the little things [emoji28] Rear window stickers in here too [emoji51] very tempted to get the flag decals put back on at some stage.. we will see Work slowed to a halt for 10 days after taking this to the ring Which was epic.. but there was a few occasions where I wished I had the meg Since being back I’ve bought these which aren’t being fitted just yet [emoji6] And these which are much needed I think.. where as the handling is pretty good there is some significant play in the inner rods These needed changing too! Full service kit inbound too so will be doing the rest of it in the coming days when it gets delivered For now that’s it but more updates soon [emoji51] On a side note Note to self the exhaust gets warm whilst getting stuff out the boot [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cheers been following your thread also! How are you finding the evol mounts? Mine is due mounts as I’m getting some vibration under hard acceleration Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Side mount stickers from fleabay haven’t had a chance to fit anything else yet work has been rather hectic! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have new OEM mounts other than the torque link which is only Evol/polybushed mount. The vibration is absolutely unbareable .swapping it out the second the new OEM torque link arrives and will get it strengthened when I get a sec.
Lol! That answered my question perfectly [emoji23][emoji23] i think il get OEM being as it’s a road car Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice to read a well written thread and to see another black one Makes me want to get mine back on the road even more
Thanks I like those red wheels mate very smart..! I’ve got to chose what colour to do mine now as I’m going to fit the AD08R’s at the same time as getting them refurbished I’m thinking I’m going to go with a slightly darker anthracite colour than standard if I can. They are pretty chewed! Looks like the previous owners been driving by feel [emoji23] Whilst I’m at it I’m going to be replacing my centre caps with these (inspiration from matt e on here [emoji4] as my old diamonds are battered) Test fit... Urgh I think I need new wheel bolts too [emoji85] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just got some black nut covers off ebay for about 5 quid.. perfect fit and no chance they are going to fall off. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-X-Whe...918882?hash=item1a41ca2e62:g:evcAAOSw5PJbHjgL I also have a spare set of wheels a ford grey that are slightly darker, i think the colour suits it well
That’s perfect mate! Will definitely be something similar to that I think maybe even a touch darker thanks for the link! Ordered some and hopefully they will show up in the next few days and hide the nasty looking bolts! Finally got round to doing some bits today and I’m hoping I can make some decent progress with the car in the next few weeks now This is definitely the source of the bad steering feel quite a lot of play in the inner rods and track rod ends have seen better days although they did seem ‘okay’ Luckily everything else feels really tight down there and the hubs move freely as they are supposed to! I am also really surprised at how clean everything is underneath there really isn’t much rust or corrosion on anything so at some stage I’m going to give it a proper deep clean under there and smarten it all up and protect it Maybe next week if I get time Anyway.. all coming apart Off with the inner rod All off Noticed the date stamp on here.. seem to be the original rods!!! No wonder they are a bit shagged! needless to say the inner rack bush was fubar’d! It was literally in bits inside the boot All back together and looking fresh.. absolutely no movement in anything now so should drive so much better Decided to polish up the callipers whilst it was all off.. come up well Just some meguiars 105 on an old polishing pad and some wheel wax Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cleaned Left the struts and droplinks as I’ve decided I’m gonna refresh them somehow.. either coil overs or standard with lower springs Not sure what yet.. any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got the wheels back with the AD08R’s fitted but they were far too light.. almost like a nardo gray kind of colour.. not bad but just didn’t suit it I don’t think My friend very kindly leant me his Clio (my old one) so I gave it a clean to say thanks and it came up lovely! I do miss it [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7] Got it tracked at aline (great service as per usual) would recommend them to anyone in the West mids area for tracking and set up Really wasn’t blown away by the colour so sweeney Sherlock agreed to re do them for me.. so back on stands AGAIN! Looking sorry for itself here But the wait was worth it as the new colour is a shade darker but it looks so much better and the finish is spot on Sealed [emoji854] Very happy with how they look now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
