'Ring fwd record gone.

  1. Yeah think Reno need to do more with the 265 than give it a facelift. The golf R is nice but if I had 30k to spend on a hot hatch think id go with the 135i.

i saw the cupra r lap on YouTube and gotta say it sounded very loud, dubious about it being a production car ( at least in standard form!

  2. Neither loom as good as the Renault though I'm my opinion

  3. It's very important to point out that the lap was not independently measured whereas the Megane time was.
The Seat is using a performance package upgrade not currently available to buy (last I checked).
The tyres used in the pack are much more sticky than the Potenzas the Megane used.
    They removed the air con.

The Evo gave both the Meg and Golf 5 stars, the only thing they really said was that the Golf was faster in a straight line.

  4. Suspected there was some type of upgrade to this car for it to be that much quicker than the meg.

  5. I suspect very few "lap records" are with totally standard cars.

I wouldn't worry too much about this, There is a fast Megane out testing at the Ring at the moment

  7. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting to hear these lap times but is it really the decider on how good a car is?

I mean this is a 13 mile long track and we're not talking huge differences in time. On the road, there'd be almost no difference.

We're lucky to be in a position where we've got a choice of so many 200bhp+ hot hatches which are so much safer, more refined and full of luxuries compared to old skoool hot hatches.

Is there such a thing as a bad hot hatch now days?

  8. Leon Cupra R had the performance pack and aircon deleted, that we know of, id take the Golf R or Bmw M135i over any megane

  9. I wouldn't say any of them are particularly bad, some more over priced than others tho. When I hear of the problems the new meg has and look at the price and then the more reliable German hatches are more appealing. Maybe they still have their problems...

Heres a link to the Seat Video.

Defo doesnt sound standard. I know im a bit of a Renaultsport fan boy but if I had the money I would have the Megane over any of its rivals.
