Hi guys, I have weird problem on my RS 250 Cup (steering wheel on the left side). Right front rotor is hotter than left rotor. Yesterday dealer replaced right rotor under warranty because it was warped only after 2k km, they also replaced brake fluid and inspect the caliper. They did not find any problem with the caliper. Previous replacement of front rotors and pads was also because of warped rotor, but the old ones were also worn. Month before first rotor replacement right wheel bearing was also replaced. So I am wondering if anyone has a similar issue, temperature difference on rotors? Could this be normal, and the warped rotor was only coincidence/bad material? Any advice would be great. P.S. Sorry for my english I am not native speaker. Regards
Hi frendo it sounds like the brakes are stuck on which is quite common on the 250 mine were seized inside brake pad only found out when car went in for mot test and the brake balance was out stripped brakes and copper slipped edge of brake pads where they slide in calliper which sorted it. Are your brake pads wearing evenly ?
I noticed more brake dust on the right side. Wear can not be noticed on pads since they have only 2.000 km on them. So if I understand correctly it is not the problem with calipers but with pads itself? If that is correct how come that this happens only on right side? Also brake test shows no balance difference.
Is possible for you jack front right of the car and see how free the wheel is to spin by hand and then press brake and try again this should tell you if the brake is releasing hope this helps
Hmm.. I will try this as soon possible, but i think that mechanic at dealership was trying something like that. But I will double check it. I would appreciate if some could try if the temperature difference can be felt with hand on their 250 front brakes. I also noticed that right side of engine bay is much warmer than left side, could this make rotor warmer or worse at cooling down?
Not really, check the pads free movement regarding pad sticking. And how are you cheking your temperature ??
I check it with my hand. I know it is not very exact method but the difference is easily detectable. I will check both mentioned methods. So what would be a solution for pad sticking if it is nothing wrong with the caliper (the mechanic said so yesterday), new pads?
That was done yesterday. Probably it would be best if I take it to specialized brake service if they can figure something out. Its really strange that guys from Renault can't figure out the problem. :/
I have another question. Is it possible that something went wrong when they were replacing wheel bearing? Or is this totally independent from bearing? Because first time that rotor warped was like a month after bearing replacement.
