Hi I'm going to be fitting a new turbo in the next few days was wondering if anyone could share any information about the job? What needs removing to get the old turbo off? Does the engine need moved forward? Is it easier to remover the exhaust manifold with the turbo?
Two ways for this. quickest is leave the hot side on with the exhaust and just change the cores. Its a bit quicker. other way complete change over , but its a pig to get to and the risk of the downpipe bolts snapping..
The chance is that all the studs will snap. Undo the down pipe bolts from the turbo when cold & you should get them all with no issue. The rear one you need a c shaped spanner for. The turbo ones all come un done from underneath with a socket & as many extensions as you have. You can get to them easily if you already have a de-cat fitted. The stud kit from renault is a circa £150. Also make sure you buy all new gaskets especially the oil return as they are prone to leaking. Lee
I couldn't get the bolts undone from the cat to exhaust. So I dropped the subframe so I could drop the cat and exhaust as one unit. I used an impact gun to undo the turbo bolts. None of them broke and I was able to re use all of them.
