Hey guys, got round to replacing my oil breather pipe today as it was annoying me being broken. Just started the car up and it nearly stalled. Reved up as normal but when the revs fell back down it struggled to keep the revs up and nearly stalled. Even revving it the revs fall down lower than normal. Doesn't feel right. Any ideas? Pipe is fitted correctly but have no idea why its like it is. Cheers, Paul.
Either a vacuum pipe off somewhere or there could be a fault code that could need resetting. Or the auto adaptives/throttle stops could need resetting.
Presuming these can be done via diagnostics machine? Checked the pipes and nothing seems to be loose.
Getting it put on the machine tomorrow anyway so hoping it that'll sort the issue out. If not back to the drawing board. Cheers guys.
if it was broke before and sucking air in then th ecu will evetually adapt to it, and vice versa when putting a new one on. my old 197 did this when leaving a vacuum pipe to the throttle body off, reconnected it and it wouldnt idel correctly. try running it abit and driving and see if it sorts itself out
Had it on a mates machine today, was showing the throttle position at 15% on idle so hoping that has rectified the issue. Seems to have improved it bit will give it a look at tomorrow. Aye Ryan its been like it for quite a while so could very well be that issue if its not already sorted. If it isn't then I might have to let it bed in and hope that sorts it. The joys of little things causing bigger problems eh.
since you've played around with vacuum tubes and the problem is worse at idle, I'd also say there is/was a vacuum leak.. when hooked up to the machine, did you get any faults? If there was a leak, you should get a lean condition (unless leak is very small). Fuel trim readings can also help diagnosing leaks..
My short term fuel trim was going off the scale when I had a tiny leak on the injector seals. Thought the injectors needed doing because I was getting the cough on idle but it was just a seal not sealing correctly.
No mate. Only thing that came up was coolant circ sensor which I'm guessing is air con related. Other than that and 2 codes in the memory there was nothing found. Seems to be running fine now so don't think its down to a leak, so that's problem one sorted, now to deal with the others lol. Never a dull day with the Renault.
