Replace inner tie rod

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by maece82, Jun 28, 2018.

  1. I'm going to replace the inner tie rods on my megane rs 225. So, I'll buy the special clamping tool needed (nr.2 on picture) in diameter 35-40 mm.

But, there's a notice, that one should also install the locking device nr.1 on the steering, to prevent putting rotating forces onto the inner steering parts. Does anybody know where I could get such a locking tool from (Dir.1306-04)? Or does anybody have such a tool and could take some measurements?

And what's the correct torque setting for the inner tie rods?

    Many thanks and regards

  2. To be fair they aren't that tightly torque, there is some loctite on them but easily removed, i took mine of with a locking mole grips pliers fairly easy job to do.

Hardest for me was to fit and tighten the cable tie back on the protective plastic sleeve on the steering rack itself:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
