Rent a car for the Ring

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by engine killer, Aug 12, 2014.

  1. Dear All,

As I will be traveling to Germany for a business trip later next month, I am thinking of staying over after it and have a go at the Ring.

Is there any recommendation of race car hire company for the ring? Anything I have to take special care of? Can I rent a helmet there or do I have to bring my own?

    Thanks for any assistance.

  2. Rent For Ring, RSR. Just make sure you have enough money to cover the excess if you do have an off. iirc Dale runs Bridge to Gantry website and works at Rent for Ring

  3. I do not think Dale works there any more. I think he does driving and writing now - or so I am told.

Helmet is not mandatory, as it is just a public road. But I strongly advise it. If you go off, you WILL hit something hard, so good to be protected.

For renting, just get a swift from Rent4Ring. By far the best experience you will ever have at the ring.

Insurance excesses are very high and if you go off, you will also have to pay (before you leave the circuit) for any damage to Armco etc. First time we went my mate had a minor off and clipped the barrier - 2k euros please.

The ring is by far my most favourite driving places now, given that it is getting increasingly difficult to drive fast on the roads in the UK. But it has risks, so take it easy. Enjoy.

I would go with rsr, I rent a car every year I go out there with them and they are brilliant.

  5. Gentlemen thanks for your reply.

Will I be able to hire a helmet from RSR?

I am thinking of renting a right hand drive Clio there for 4 laps during weekdays night time, do you think this is good for a newbie?

I have a few trackday experience locally in my Mi16 and R26R so I hope can keep the car away from the barrier.

  6. Weekends can be manic, so weekday evenings is a good choice.

I seem to recall rsr do have helmets, but you could either call or email in advance to confirm. Their customer service is very good.

  7. booked a rhd swift from rent4ring for late next month, they have helmet available too.

    thank for your advices.

  8. had a great time in the ring last week. rent4ring also arranged an English speaking instructor for me. 4 laps were already too good but surely i will go there again when i have sufficient spare money to spend.
