Renaultsport Megane Cup-S 275 (Flame Red)

  1. Shame to hear you are thinking of moving it on.

  2. My bro won’t let me drive his DC5 often annoyingly. However, my thoughts are that the Mégane is a more capable car, it feels like the sky is the limit type of thing. I will openly admit the DC5 has got a bit more feeling to it, it’s a bit rawer and I’d say it’s definitely a car you can have more fun in. There’s a bit more theatre with the DC5 and it’s just a bit more special really. Both fantastic cars in their own rights but depends what you’re after for sure.

  3. Yeah, it’s a shame. It’s not guaranteed for certain yet but there’s an opportunity to own something very different and it would save me a chunk of money. It’s just a bit of priorities and personal preference type of thing but nothing certain yet!

  4. I am sure the biggest difference is in power plant i.e. how flat and character less the meg engine is. But equally the monster torque difference.

  5. I image the used car landscape like every other element of life will be different as the economy gets levelled out post Covid-19.

  6. Yeah for sure dude, completely correct. My bro’s DC5 has a lot done to it and is at about 240bhp instead of 220bhp, also has been mapped so that VTEC kicks in way earlier so the power is more accessible but the two engines couldn’t be more different.

  7. Funny that, im thinking of swapping my Meg for a DC5

  8. the guy that bought my DC2 had a highly tuned DC5....i still think the DC2 is the ultimate,`just get in and everything feels right`,hot hatch.

  9. The ATS have gone and so are the AR1s. Jason Budden and his black Mégane will now be making use of them.

Ironically, since going back to using the Tibors, it’s making me want to keep the car more. I think the car just suits 18” wheels perfectly. Unfortunately, the Tibors sit quite far in the arches so I‘ve ordered some Pure Motorsport 10mm spacers front and rear to improve the stance of the car a bit.

In the meantime, here are some lockdown driveway photos. Where we’re free to drive without watching over our backs now, I think a good drive is in order.

Also, anyone thinking about retrimming their steering wheel with Royal Steering Wheels, it’s worth every penny. You can’t beat fresh alcantara!

  10. Can second Royal. Had mine done buy them just under a year ago. Hmmm you may have changed my mind on going 17's...

  11. I think 17s look good, don’t get me wrong. I had the issues with DTCs and calliper bolts, which put me off a bit.

From most of the Mégane guys, there are very little differences on how they drive. I just think the 18s are more my preference. A lot more tyre options too in comparison to 17s.

  12. Wheel looks good is it the same thickness as std.

I thought if I got mine trimmed may be go with a yellow stripe.

The alcantara is a bit of a pain in corona. Don't really Want to be wiping it.

  13. I prefer the 18's over the 17's.

I see ktec has a flame red cup-s for sale at the moment.

  14. Slightly thicker I would say? My car had the alcantara pack before but was worn so there’s a bit of a difference.

    Yellow stripe would look good.

I just saw that with KTEC, looks cheap considering their usual prices. Especially with the mileage.

  15. There was one at west sussex specialist cars last year with similar mile's and same price.

I think I would go red stitching but yellow stripe which might be weird. Think need to keep red stitching to compliment the gear and handbrake alcantara.

Did you leave you'd car parked up without a wheel?

  16. Nah, they do an exchange option where they provide you with a retrimmed steering wheel then you put it on your car. You then package your old one in the box they sent, send it to them to keep and reuse. It makes it a lot lot easier.

  17. The other positive thing abouf the ktec car is its a 2015 car. Yours is a 16 and mind is a 66 so a year newer. I still have 15 months warranty and a free second service coming in Sept.

Big gulf between last of the high spec 275 cars and the 300 trophy.

  18. Thats what i have on mine. pretty sure its ever so slightly thicker than standard.

  19. Not sure on yellow as would want to keep red stitching. As matches gear and handbrake stitching.

Mine is ok at the moment. Although alcantara not the best for corona environment. Does not lend itself to a wipe down.

I though it was a pretty fair price for the red one. Prices of 250 through to 275 pretty compresses now almost down to the £1000 to £1200 per year. Obviously ignoring the ktec car us very well specced. The jump then from a car like that up to the trophy 300 is huge.

  20. Love that

  21. Yeah that’s true. I think I’ll be able to get my desired amount for it really when I come to sell.
