Renault Captur.

  1. Out of curiosity does anyone own one of these?? I'm wanting to replace the Clio with something slightly bigger with minimal running cost and this seems a good option just wondering if anyone has one? Was looking at the new 2015 signature nav.

  2. I had one as a courtesy car while having my gearbox changed, was like driving around in a boat. But then I had got used to my Meg.

  3. My wife has the 0.9tce Dynamique S Nav. Great little engine and nice car, but the fuel economy is really poor. It averages 36mpg overall and I've had no better than 44mpg on a long run on 50-70mph roads. I know manufacturers quoted mpg is always bullshit but this is something else - for comparison I average over 30mpg in my R26 so I'm hardly heavy on the pedal!

Handling wise there is a fair bit of body roll, but as said above you're going to notice that on just about everything after driving an RS.

1.5 diesel is a load better on fuel but I hate diesels!

  4. The Clio I have just now is the 0.9 tce and I find it pretty good on fuel, it'll do almost 400 miles to £50? Maybe it's because of the extra 100kg and size.
I'd be going for the diesel this time just to save a little more. Any complaints?

  5. Maybe it's the taller shape and poorer aerodynamics, but you won't get that mpg with a Captur. You won't get £50 in the tank either, it's tiny - £40 is brim full. It's been fine apart from one issue - a 'stop start system error' message came up, and the indicators, windows, rear wiper and other electrics stopped working. This happened several times over a few days but stopped before we could get it to Renault and hasn't done it again since.

  6. Cool. Not bad at all then, the Clio has had numerous recalls and it has an intermittent electrical gremlin so it'll be getting chopped in!

  7. The wife wanted a Captur and we test drove the 0.9tce but wasn't happy with the speed or the harshness.

The dealer didn't have the 1.5dci in the Captur at the time, but did have in the Clio which the wife went for, and now doesn't regret getting the smaller car at all.

The Clio will do more than 75mpg, even if it doesn't quite achive the 82odd it's supposed to. The engine is very smooth - from the inside you honestly can't tell its a diesel at all. I think the smaller Mercs use this engine too. Tax is zero rated in the Clio but not in the Captur too I think.

  8. How do you mean harshness? Haven't driven one yet, planning doing that this weekend.
Tax is free in the Captur with the 1.5dci but not the petrol.

  9. Well it's a three pot so feels out of balance at low engine speeds as they all seem to. Sounded a bit thrashy at higher speeds too - the wife immediately thought it was broken lol.

The mercs use the lump too that's correct.
