afternoon, took all 4 bolts on top and the 14mm bolt down the side. Car in neautral and it wont budge up. Iv levered it with a bar and its just pulling the gearbox up with it. Any tips?
It will simply be the 2 faces of the metal rusted together...you will have to tap it with a coated hammer till it lets go...sometimes they can be pretty tough to separate..
Hi Andrew, Thanks, double check with you, this 14mm bolt, is it underneath the gearbox mount? Just making sure i got the right one
facing the bonnet..run your hand down the right side of the actuator..its just under the black hydraulic pipe...the bolt goes into the side of the gearbox casing..if you don't remove it..the actuator will come out a inch then stop..
Thanks Andrew, yep i got the 14mm out right. Tried again tonight it still wont budge, not even a little. Im using a lever bar, iv hit the side of it dunno what the hell im doing wrong. Its still tightly held in the middle.
how old is your car? You are doing nothing wrong..it will be just rust holding it. Will speak to my guy who has fitted dozens..will see what he used when they were tough to shift.
I had to get a long bar then i came from the underside out behind the left wheel and hit it with a hammer worked a treat needed one person to hold it on the lip of the gear selector and the other to hold and hit the bar.
