Removing Exhaust Surround on Mk3 250

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Mark_RS, Feb 6, 2017.

  1. Morning all,

Apologies first off, I know this question has been asked so many times! I'm really struggling to remove the chrome exhaust surround on my 250. I've read everything from screw driver and brute force to lollipop sticks and it slips off...but I'm failing.

What IS the best way to remove it? Do I go in from the back of the car and try to jam something between all 4 of the clips (between diffuser plastic and chrome surround) or do I go in from underneath the car and try to pry open the black plastic clips that seem to click into chrome plastic clips (outside of the metal heat shield)?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

  2. Underneath the car, get your fingers in the bottom clips and push.

  3. Absolutely perfect, thankyou. I focused on top right (from back of car), you press the large silver leg down and push forward...then you just pull from the back of the car and wiggle it free.
