250 Removing battery tray to change thermostat

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Ben Jones, May 27, 2018.

  1. Can’t work out how to get the battery tray out. I’ve removed all the bolts circled in green and whilst it feels loose it won’t actually move very far and feels like somthing else is holding it in

  2. That red looking bolt needs to come off as you slide the whole bit with the live red wires up as it's clipped in at the back.

You need to unclip the ecu at the front of the air box also, there's 3 connectors.

The wiring loom is also clipped to the right side of the air box at the bottom so don't go tugging like a mad man

  6. Ben,
Had mine out today to replace gearbox mount and bolt. As Danny says, I removed both bolts from the live module. ( red earth wire + bolt opposite end ) this separates the unit from the battery tray. I also removed the 3 10mm nuts from the front ECU unit. ( 2 top and one at the bottom ) The tray is also tucked under the plastic unit to the right, so needs to be untucked. Apart from the above you’ve removed all the rest of the bolts. It is tight to get out and you have to be careful not to damage any wires, but it dose come out.
    Hope this helps
    Kev.
