Remap a cup 250 with 77k miles

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Mr Spoon, May 20, 2021.

  1. Hello all,

So I have owned one other car that I had remapped, it was a 335D x-drive and had a million torque and 380 hp.

I had confidence in the ZF transmission as the ZF8 box was used in many a performance car. A remap is a quick and easy way of improving acceleration and I am considering doing the same with my cup 250.

Gains will be roughly 40/50 hp. I have a couple of questions regarding mileage. Has anyone else remapped there car with mileage similar to that of my car, or more?

Anyone reported increased clutch wear and or critical component wear?
With a diesel the fuel pump pressure is increased, by and large, with a petrol I imagine the boost pressure is increased and thats how they get the gains. Any other feedback?

  2. ideally want to give reason for remapping like de-cat and or FMIC or even hybrid turbo just remapping standard engine little bit waisted as with any of above can see some good gains

and no fuel pump, clutch, gearbox, or drive shafts will suffer from small increase

mileage, if engine's been looked after then shouldn't be issue especially if still standard

  3. who you thinking using for re-map ??

be beneficial going to know F4R mapper even if means traveling distance

  4. Definitely get it mapped, it's a great improvement. I'd recommend Chris at EFI. Best in the business imo. Get your name in there fast though because his waiting list is huge (for good reason).

Main thing before remapping these is get a good aftermarket intercooler as the standard ones are crap and really limit power. Wagner is what I went for and would recommend. And as with any car, a good service before remapping and you're all set.

  5. Thanks folks. I used performance remap in Gloucester previously.

I'm off to forge Motorsport Monday for the BOV. I'll chat to them about a bigger intercooler.

    50hp gain from the remap... That's 20%.. it's enough.

  7. Of course folks have their own trusted mappers they've used for while but take advice and go EFI these ecu have couple hidden areas that others may not know about

  8. yes sure, I haven't ignored your comment, I mentioned where I got the bmw remapped.

That said, I'll not travel for hours, so if EFI are too far, I'll need to chose elsewhere

If you want it done right then its well worth the trip, i live in Plymouth and will drive there and back in a day to have the best in the business to do my map or even a map tweak.

I try to get a trackday at either Anglesey or Oulton park the day after but it very rarely happens

  10. I’ll be making the trip next month, 4hr each way to EFI. Always made the longer trip to go to the companies advised for all previous cars I’ve had mapped, as it’s not something you want to mess about with

  11. So right now, I am not convinced I want to modify the car so much at this stage. Given my cup is completely standard, I'm considering leaving it as so until which time I am bored.

I'll have a conversation with EFI when I do decide to remap. If they are like BWChiptuning for BMW's then they will be able to remap the car remotely at someone else's RR.

  12. lot to be said keeping standard, certainly hold good price if eventually sell

  13. It's such a good car. Went for a drive today and that diff is superb. Couple that with 245 pilot sport tyres all round, it's very capable
