250 Relay on H7 bulb connector and CANBUS

  1. I want to install a relay to power my HID bulbs, my relay will be energised by passenger side H7 bulb wire and when it is energised it will allow me to run a fused wire directly from the battery to each HID bulb. So this means the main H7 bulb connectors in each headlight will actually not be connected to any bulb. So the car will not be detecting any current draw on those two bulbs. Except the passenger side H7 connector where the relay is connected there will be a very small amount of current draw for the relay.

My question is, does anyone know if the main H7 bulb is CANBUS monitored in the sense that if like in my situation I am not connecting the bulbs and one bulb connector will be connected to a relay that is drawing much less power than a regular bulb, will the car detect this as a problem and potentially completely cut power to the connectors which will be pointless because then my relay won't energise.

From what I can see, the SWITCHING PROTECTION UNIT in the engine bay has two different 10A fuses for left and right headlights, and they share with other things too.

In theory this should work, but I want to know if not connecting a bulb to the connector or drawing small amount of current via a relay will cause the car to turn power off completely to the H7 connector?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.
