What are people getting mileage wise for a set of rear tyres? On my old 172 I could easily see 30k from a set of Contis, but the Megane seems to have eaten half the tread in a little over 5k - no better than the fronts really. The car does 'make progress', but so did the Clio. Normal, or excessive?
Seems a little excessive , but I dont know your driving style. Has the car benefitted from a 4 wheel alignment ? Are any edges / middles wearing any faster than any other ?
I did 20k miles in my old 225 and the rears that were on when I bought it still had loads of tread left when I sold it.
Driving style probably quite harsh if I'm honest - I will get the thing sliding when safe (work shifts so on the roads at very quite times). It's had alignment done but not for a couple of years. Is there anything to alter on the rear on these? Wear is pretty even across the tyres but worse on near side tyre than off side. I check the pressures every couple of weeks but they never change - run 2 bar in the rears, 2.3 in front.
I did about 12k on new ps3's on the rear before i sold it and they looked brand new, literally like 90% tread so i suspect there is an issue or you are drifting the bugger everywhere!
I drive the same as I did the Clio and they lasted forever! I know the Megane is a heavier car but then the tyres are a lot bigger (and 3x price) Maybe the tyres are really soft (Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-A) though I can't find any info on them at all, they don't seem to exist.
May be worth checking / changing your shocks. My rear tyres (quality brand) have worn out very quickly with even wear across width. I'm sure my shocks are fkd, so I'm looking to renew them shortly.
