Hi Guys, 3 months ago i fitted brand new Renault supplied dampers and Cooksport springs all round. Happy days... Except. The 2 rear dampers have started leaking. Renault want the car in to have a look... I've got Cooksports on. Do i just buy another set of dampers and take it on the chin? The old rear springs had failed so i can't just throw the old spring back on. Has anyone else had this problem after fitting Cooksports? Thanks in advance, Richard
I would be surprised if the cause of the failure was anything to do with the springs. Do you still have the bump stops fitted on the rear? And +1 on just blagging it. Chances are the tech won't be any the wiser
+1 Rennie Techs are more like schmecks, dont know their arse from elbow, especially the ones who are supposed to be Renault sport specialists. Doubt they will spot the cooks.
Cheers guys, i'll book it into Renault Chorley. They seem absolutely clueless in there. Just seems strange both would fail.
Thats the thing no... I like to get a move on but i've mostly been doing motorway miles! The only thing i can think of is either speed bumps or the Cooksports.
Really odd that both shockers are leaking so early. Got to be either faulty shockers or springs that are too soft causing high bounce, but then you would notice it, strange You would have to suspect the shocks. Presume the cars not lowered excessively ?
Just the standard Cooksports... Its booked into Renault in Chorley next week. Lets see if they spot the springs...
Did cooksport not develop these springs for the megane running standard setup? Mine was in the garage 2 weeks ago and the mechanic told me my n/s/f spring has a small bit broken off it (cooksport) I've emailed them but still not had a reply
Possibly just a bad batch of dampers. Or They could have been sitting on the shelf for a few years. Did you fit them your self?
So in 3 months you've got two nacked rear struts and a snapped front spring? Sounds more like the springs are shite and ruined the rear struts to me. I would be wanting a refund or some new springs from cooksport.
